When you say this eq acts with the harmonic qualities of sound, do you mean it automatically boosts ocataves (many people suggest this is the proper way to eq) for you?

ie. when you boost or cut 150 hz, it also boosts or cuts 15 k by the same amount?

More slavish worship. :hail: Really gorgeous.

JeffSanders, I meant that HarmoniEQ adds harmonic content. So if you pass a sinewave through it you'll have harmonics added to that sinewave.

This has nothing to do with additional EQ at octave range.

Wow...that really is a nice smooth top end sparkly sound. What does this one go for again? This is a quality plugin. When will it be released out of Alpha?
I don't normally get so floored by EQ plugs, but this one is easy to use and has a nice smooth tone to it.

Please tell me someone that there is some freeware somewhere or something ultra cheap that sounds as good as this one!!!!!!!!!!
I suspect there is not of course.

JeffSanders, on the other hand I can understand why eq'ing at octave distance may be a good thing. This may allow to filter out/lower harmonics of a base tone. Of course this may work good mainly with steep-Q cuts and boosts. So this is probably an idea for a future improvement of peaking filters inside HarmoniEQ.

Beside this, can anybody suggest any other improvements that can be made to the sound? Maybe there are fields not covered in a good way by HarmoniEQ? What about competing products? How HarmoniEQ stands comparison to other equalizers in terms of sonic quality? And what can be done in this respect?

Is that an EQ making use of those Pultec IR's you were after ?

Bat, no, this EQ does not use convolution at all.

I've posted a newer version which features a 'Boost' mode. This mode adds a stronger harmonic enhancement and also has a higher CPU usage.

Aleksey -- Is it functionally similar to a 'Multiband Harmonic Exciter' like Ozone's perhaps?

thought I'd try to sound intelligent an stuff... :hihi:

Lance Vance, I thought UAD's Precision EQ should kind of outperform UAD's Pultec emulation? If it does outperform it, do you think any space left to get a 'more' perfect Pultec emulation?

xander, I'm not sure HarmoniEQ can be compared to Ozone's enhancer. With the Boost mode you'll hear harmonic enhancement most obviously, but it is not multiband.

dunno, i dont own a uad-1 anymore. thats why i wanna see it for PC (or to creamware). :)

once u tried it, there's no let go, gotta have it sooner or later, in some way. :hihi:

Lance Vance, you mean you've tried a real Pultec?

nah! i ment the uad one. sorry if it sounded different. :)

and as the uad version is aclaimed to sound very alike the real one, i guess i almost tried the real thing? :D

Never ever make that mistake,
no they don't sound like the real thing. They sound good, but not like the real thing.

Heck, most of the pultecs out there are so old and there are so many different revisions and designs, you'll be lucky to find even two units that sound the same.
