I for one don't actually post here very often. But when I got Tracktion (quite long ago) one of the things that made me buy it was actually this forum. It seemed to be a friendly place with alot of well informed users, and little of the all to common name calling, pointless arguments and such.
If I where considering Tracktion today and found this place I belive I would have felt the exact opposite: great program, but the biggest discussion forum regarding it is mostly filled with BS posts, pointless arguments and name calling. Sure, today I know what are friendly jokes and what are not. But if I where new to this place I would have no idea, and belive that all the "shut the f**k up"-posts in this thread where for real for instance.
Even as a regular reader I don't really feel like this is the place to go with my questions anymore, knowing that even if I got some serious answers the thread would drown in nonsense in no time anyways.
I think what opiadream said sums it up: this place has become like the Jerry Springer show. But do we really want to attract people as a freak show, or as a place for serious discussions?
I am not directing this at anyone in particular (not even Ron), just a general plead for a little more maturity. Richard M's guidlines seems great.

Ron, you didn't HAVE to prove it wasn't coming out. Nobody really said that it was. Some were hoping, probably even you. But the true fact is that you just HAD to say something. It's what a little child does. You can't hold back. People even predicted that you would be the first to post this kind of thread.
And with maturity, if you are mature in real life, it sure doesn't show AT ALL here. You do act like a 12 year old. And honestly, it's not funny. It really rubs many people the wrong way. It floods the forum with crap. And I've said it before. You put your name and reputation here with the link to your website. Who would want to utilize your services with the way you act here? Just chill out a little man. Don't always jump in and say stupid things. Don't put on an act of a troll unless you really want that reputation. Nobody wants to hear it any more.

Wouldn't be so many BS threads if people would quit posting BS. I mean really... whether or not Ron deserves anyone's scorn is a matter for debate. But it's pretty clear that there was no real need for this thread in the first place.
For potential new users, or even experienced users with new questions, this is still the place to be. I feel that with T2 on the horizon, people aren't bothering to research workarounds and so forth (what much of the time was spent doing.
) because we want to try the latest version first and start comparing 'tricks and tips' on the new one rather than the old one.
Pretty simple. I don't personally think it means the user base has slipped. If anything, there are even MORE helpful and cool people than ever, it's just that those threads get overshadowed by idiotic ones like this.
Ron-- we've talked a bit... I respect your music... but you really DO need to taking a better look at your interpersonal relationship skills.

Anyways, I've always thought the majority of users never visit these forums, so all the forum noise will be unknown to them.
Also, we need to step back and remember that this is the internet, and on the internet a lot of people will say anything, just because they can. I've seen a lot of Rons' posts, and although they are predictable and usually without useful information, I have never seen any that were bashing or insulting to people.
If no one had responded to this thread, it could have dissapeared in a day. Now it may stay around longer.
