I thought Tom Waits was the piano player in the SpongeBob movie, but I can't find any proof.

Here's my theory, musicians look at music differently than non-musicians. Think about the difference between film makers/enthusiasts and the rest of the general public. They focus in on a genre of their interest and become very particular about movies in that genre. The rest of the world just watches whatever looks good this week and says "yeah, it's good" or "yeah, it sucked".
I think the same holds true for music. This is why pop and all this other crap on MTV and in the mainstream is so popular. It's all they're being fed and they don't care as much to dig for something more.
Musicians get way into their genre and get very particular about that genre. Some, including myself, don't even listen to other genres of music. I'll rip apart any electronic track you throw at me, but I won't even listen to one twangy riff of a country song. Anyone else will just say "yeah, it's good" or "yeah, it sucked" and they won't go looking for it, it needs to be readily available everywhere.
I think that's what happens with such a diverse collection of musicians on this board. That's why I wish the music cafe were subdivided into genres, would make it much easier on me at least.
