So, how IS routing actually pronounced?
I was wondering about that allready....
Logically it'd be like in "Route 66" or so, but I heard many people pronouncing it more like "Ouch" or "Out" allready.

Does it depend on how it's written?
Is "routeing" even a legitimate spelling?
I seem to reed "routing" all the time (which would make the "out" pronounciation thing plausible)...

I'd really be happy if someone could tell me what the "official" pronounciation is like - "route" and "rout(e)ing" are used in german "tech speech" as well, and as I'm doing classes, I'd better know about this....

In the US we pronounce it ROW'TING, plus it's generally spelled routing in the US regardless of application, and would be spelled that way in the context of Reason.

Weird though - I mean, routing certainly derives from "route", which is pronounced with a "u" rather than an "ou".

ALthough the US pronounciation is beginning to infect the rest of us, so that people all over are starting to ape the way the americans say it.

So there is no "official" pronounciation, any more than there is an official pronounciation for Tomato.
