hi

im new to tracktion and my friend helped me set it up

i have an m-audio revolution 7.1 and im trying to record my electric bass guitar through it. i have NO problem recording if there are no other audio tracks present in the edit. However, as soon as I hit record and there IS another audio track present, my computer goes out of whack and crashes.

I've tried this with and without VST's and the same thing happens only if there is another track present in the edit.

Real time priority is disabled, E-E is enabled.

Thanks for any input

Let me get this straight--

Let's say you have an audio drum-loop (ie. not a VSTi drum machine) that you want to play bass to.

As soon as you start recording the bass, the whole thing crashes?

That's pretty serious, indeed. Another thing to at least try is to disable 'use realtime priority mode' on the audio devices setting page. I doubt it'll help but it's worth a shot.

Unfortunately, I suspect your soundcard drivers and/or other hardware conflicts. Tracktion itself isn't known to just crash like this, which leads me to believe that there's something else effing your stuff up. ;)

it wont crash straight off, itll crash when i stop recording

and weirdly, my audio card hasnt been letting me update the drivers...

once again, realtime is disabled.

ie: id import a .wav of drums to Track 1. I'd set the inputs to Track 2. Record. Press stop. CRASH.

Bah, I said realtime, but I meant to toggle ASIO direct mode to see if that does anything.

Very weird crash, though.

I don't know what else i can do =\

It sounds to me like you may be having sound card driver problems or some type of device conflict (check your system settings for IRQ assignments).

Did the soundcard driver update problem start after you installed Tracktion? If so, I would uninstall Tracktion, try updating the soundcard drivers, then re-install Tracktion. If the driver update problems existed before you installed Tracktion, then i would say that is where to look for your problem. You need the latest drivers for your soundcard.

I reckon reinstalling or even better updating your sound card drivers might do the trick.

Can't think of any other mention of a problem like this on the forum, which makes me think its not a Tracktion related problem ie. sound card or hardware related.

this looks to be THE if not A problem try to remove the drivers from yr hardware divices pannel & reinstall then update unless the update is a full install then just use that

hope this helps if u havent tryed all ready? if u have i would try chainging the pci port that the sound card is pluged in to (ie; move the card up or down a slot from inside the pc)

Depends on the soundcard, but if it's the crappy onboard sound, or a consumer gaming card (soundblaster, etc) get the ASIO4ALL drivers at www.asio4all.com. I get 11ms latency with crappy onboard sound, and no conflicts/crashes.
