One way to improve Racks- is this possible? Beno?

Ok, so I was going through building my auto-harmonizer RF setup. And it occured to me. For each key I play in, I either have to save a new RF or change the original filter each time I use it.

So, I was wondering if it would be possible to look into have Rack Filter presets? I know you can save your edit and the filter will save it's settings for that song. But I'm looking for being able to save different presets for each rack, kind of like a synth preset. Each preset could load up different settings for each module included in a RF. So you could put your guitar effects in a RF, then instead of having to save a new RF for every setting you like, and without having to tweak each component each time, you could just load the preset and it would load each effects settings.

I hope this was clear. I think this would make the already great workflow even better. Any other opinions? Would this even work, or be possible?

There Are Rack presets now.

yeah there are, but only individual rack presets; not like presets for each rack. for now, you just have to save each version as a preset with a different name.. for instance "Harmoniser (CMaj)" etc..

it's not too much effort tho; just make the rack, save it as a preset, change it, save it as a new preset. the only problem is that your rack presets list might get a bit big.

Yes, I'm aware that there are Rack presets, but there are not presets for each Rack.

I just think that if there was one way to make racks better, this would be it. It would shave a small bit more time off. It's not essential, just an idea. The current racks can be used just fine.

At what point does it become a new rack filter, and at what point is it a preset for a rack filter? Does it involve adding or removing a filter from the rack?

Just a matter of organization. For all Tracktion could care (in terms of raw data that it stores), there could be completely different plug-ins for the rack.

However, it's about management-- if you could simply save a preset that happens to be attached to the one you called "Harmonizer" then it'd be easier to organize and keep track of. Really, the functionality is already there, it just needs to have a storage/naming hierarchy, which I think is what the point of the feature request is.

yeah, a heierarchy wouold be nice, that way you could have racks grouped into folders, and then those racks could have presets, and you could group those presets into folders...

Wish it were easier to organize my VSTs, too, come to think of it. I wouldn't mind manually entering the information were it possible to then be able to sort by plug-in name, manufacturer, perceived "job" (user-definable, of course), etc.

first copy all the vst/vsti's u want to a new folder

Now arrange the plugins how u would like to see them in tracktion ie vst folder vsti folder the sub directorys of yr choice

then copy this folder to the plugin folder in tracktion & remove yr stineburg vst folder from the settings inside tracktion

yeah but what if you wanted to be able to sort by developer and type?

Just go along with what djsubject suggested....obviously, this is a fixed structure and you can't do a sort on this or whatever else you might want to do......that would require some user maintenance of a small database within Tracktion (for each plugin, adding info on Category, Sub-Category, Developer, etc....anything that you might want to sort on)......I don't see the point in doing that if you just organise your plugins in a decent way. In your Tracktion plugins folder create various category or developer subfolders and make sure you always install your plugins into the correct folder structure, rather than plonking them anywhere.

Unless you're installing stuff all the time then its something you do once, at install time, and takes no time at all. For example, in my VSTPlugins folder I created an Effects and an Instruments folder. WIthin Effects I have a Compressor Folder. Within that I have Kjaerhus Golden Comp etc...... Makes looking for a plugin much easier.

How many plugins do you guys have installed that you can't find them in a decent structure?
