Sends are easy! Thanks, ModuLR!

I've never used it yet but what's the difference between this and placing an effect in the slot above the master volume - that also works for all tracks so doesn't that make it a send as opposed to a track effect?

it's not the same.. placing anything in the master slot effects all audio. Using a send lets your route a percentage of your audio into a particular effect(s) while preserving the dry signal as well.
For example, place a reverb in the master effect box and all your audio gets effected. Meanwhile if you were to use a send, you could maintain the dry signals for your audio, while sending independent amounts of audio from each instrument into the reverb.
I dunno if that's the best way to explain it...

ModulR, I started a similar thread back a month or two ago.
Now, with track folders in T2, you could put all the returns into one folder, so that even if you had 10 send/return pairs, only one screen track is taken up.
Could be lovely. Jeez, there I go sounding British again. I'm reading too many posts from the dudes from the UK! That's just pants!

Right - you see my rudimentary understanding of these things led me to think a track effect only affected that track whearas a send was an effect that affected all tracks (thus cutting down on the number of instances of a plugin and cpu). I didn't know you could do the percentages thing. But isn't what Tracktion has at least a sort of basic send? I suppose what you also need is a way of defining which groups of tracks get affected - somwhere between a global send and a track effect - can it do that too (using rack filters perhaps)? Is that where these "folder tracks" come in handy?ModuLR wrote:it's not the same.. placing anything in the master slot effects all audio. @Amused - basically with T1's current setup, you have routable insert effects... but in order for it to be a legitimate send, you need to be able to send the whatever percentage of signal to the effect independent of the dry signal. It should also be possible to send that very signal to effects for parallel processing as well... and ya, Track Folder would rock for keeping this kind of stuff nice and tidy! *drool*
@AD80 - I wish there was a bizarro green lantern! that would rock!

oh yeah, one more quick quesyion modular.
how do you apply how much you want to send to each recieve?. is it the dry/wet sliders and if so, which one does which?. im sorry but im new to the whole send thing/ .

I never touch the wet/dry sliders with senderella. You regulate the amount of send with the "amount" slider.Neil G wrote:oh yeah, one more quick quesyion modular.

I have to thank ModuLR too. Until senderella there was no way for me to use the effects daughter card on my sound card. Senderella makes it work but I have to use two additional track lanes. I have to use one track just to link the send to a physical output. The daughter card routes just like physical I/Os so this would also be the case when using outboard effects. The return from the effect then comes back on the second additional track. Having one track for aux effect return isn't a big deal. If I was mixing on a board I would return effects into a channel anyway and in the case of outboard effects I would need to record the effect into a track before I mixed. Using a track as the return gives the option of adding plugins after the effect.
What I would like to see is the option to route the aux sends directly to a physical output from a filter. ModuLR, can this be done? Ben, any chance in T2?
