well there ya go... Haydxn beat me to it! :D

I wrote this little bit up as a plugin tho if you want it...

http://subminimal.org/plugins/cc-inverter.zip

connect the midi out from env2mid to this, then connect this to your eq.. and it should invert the cc range properly.

It's like magic. I'll post something to my site's how-to page (with your kind permission to link to the new-fangled cc-inverter). Because this gives me what I wanted all along: a way to dynamically change the equalization based on audio events (woo hoo!).

So, would it be, maybe like, you know, presumptuous/wrong to ask: There is a handy-dandy slider on the plugin. Could that be connected to set the center value? (like TobyBear's MIDImirror).

Gives us all yet another thing to have to tweak.......

And I'm obviously old and blind: In EnergyXt, I can see where to assign the VST control, and I can see where to assign that to a midiCC channel. But I can't see where to reset the MidiCC Channel's Range of Values.

And as long as we're going over my non-cleverness. In the cc-rider.vst: I can't see where to connect a MidiCC controller to the VST parameter in Tracktion. Because I want to do more than one - how would it just "know" which one I wanted where?

I'm ready to say "doh!", Mr Demille.

Wait. That can't be right.......

can you explain exactly how it would work? cos I don't quite get it...

it's just a little bit hidden. To do it with eXT...

1) Open the plugin wndow (most likely your eq).
2) Look to the upper left.. select File -> CC Map
3) Assign the CC to the param that need to be controlled.
4) Invert the values as Haydxn suggested. Min = 127, Max = 0.

And that'll work... ;)

CC Rider only sends midi-cc's. It has no way to connect to a VST (it's not possible with the vst spec). I don't think you need it in this case... because in wrapping your plug with eXT, all the parameters can be mapped to midi-cc's. You could use cc-rider if you wanted to automate wrapped params in eXT with Tracktions automation instead of using the midi clips.

does that help? :)

The Center Value Trick goes like this:

0=127
64=64 center value.
127=0

Adjusting the Center Value to say, 50, does this:

0=113
50=50 center value
64=78
127=13

Sense? Probably not important. Don't count on my math this early in the day (lunch time) - I may have it upside down. Or backwards twice removed. 8)

I guess I mis-read the shpiele for cc-rider. I thought it said one could connect MidiCC's to Tracktion automation curves, which happen to connect into the parameters I want to control in the equalizer. Lazy ole me still hasn't popped for eXT yet, and if the cc-rider coulda saved me a quarter, I'da woulda.......never mind.

ok, so try this one... the center value should work (provided my math skills are up to par this soon after lunch! food coma :lol:)

yeah.. cc-rider lets you use tracktion's automation to send midi-cc's instead of using midi clips.
