As the topic said, I can't get the Asio4all drivers to work in Tracktion. I've tried v.1.8 and 2.2 (of the drivers), and none of them works. v1.8 simply gave me an error message complaining that some SW synth was already loaded, v2.2 kinda loads, but the primary output is "not connected", and I get no sound.

This is a bit weird, becuase the drivers work just fine in the demos of Reason 2.5 and FL Studio 5.

I have a typical SoundMAX laptop card.

I'd really like this to work because I want to get a midi keyboard controller (for the first time), and I'd like to have a respectable latency.

:help:

Try to disable the Windows Software synth (somewhere in the Windows control panel, I keep forgetting where) although it should not keep the device busy. Unless you are playing a midi file while you try to open Asio4All? One thing at a time then please.

Edit: Just ruling out possibilities... If the card does not like multiple applications to access it, then use the <empty> sound scheme in Windows. Maybe if you have a sound event on "open program" it will not like that and say the card is busy. Make sure that opening Asio4All is the first thing thats done with sound after you have booted the PC. Even try to put a shortcut in the "Startup" folder.

I messed with all the options and kept 'restarting sound card' after each change. Got it to work eventualy.

try downloading the 2.3 beta in one of the asio4all forums

Thanks for the feedback! I already have the empty windows sound scheme, and I've muted the SW synth in the sound properties. I did this when trying v.1.8 and nothing worked.

It does work very well in FL Studio and Reason though, which is why I think this might be down to T.

No midi files are playing, no mp3s, and no other applications are open.

I'll try some of the things you mentioned and check out the lates beta. Thanks!

Ok, so I've fiddled around a bit and here are the latest results.

I've now installed the 2.3 beta from the Asio4all forum. I've also messed with the Tracktion settings, and now I'm back to the "not connected" problem on the default wave output.

I tested the drivers in FL and Reason again (demo versions) with no problems. The latest version works with Orion too.

I was having the same problems. Make sure you've disabled all the DirectSound stuff in Tracktion, and that you've enabled an ASIO output.

But you probably need to make this change on the ASIO Control Panel: Go into the Advanced settings and make sure that "Force WDM driver to 16 bit" is checked.

I also have best results when setting it to 48 KHz in Tracktion.
