ok..i'm very simple. i really liked acid beause it was CLICK AND DRAG to loop a sample over and over for as long as you want until CHANGE!


i'm a simple man. that appealed to me big time....i can see there are things about tracktion that ring true. that is why i paid $$$ for it today but....


i must be missing something. how do you work with this? how do you loop those drums and bass and record all the sugar on top? that's my MO anyway.

does your routine differ all that much? how do you find the best way to work with TRACKTION?


perhaps this is a rant..i find the documentation wanting....

What made me switch to Tracktion was that I didn't need documentation. Okay, so I was confused about how to add a plugin to a track at first, but once I figure that out, everything just worked exactly how I thought it would (okay, one more exception is the volume/pan filter, but that wasn't too hard to adjust to).

As far as looping, I've always just used copy and paste, with the keyboard. Takes a whole lot less time than using the mouse most of the time.

New user here too. I'm used to hardware recording--have a Korg D1600MKII. But Tracktion was a free download, so I thought....hey, let's try the computer route just for fun.

But yeah, I would like better documentation as well--please!

Select the clip and press "loop this clip".

Although it prompts you for a number of repeats, this is just a starting point: you can now drag your looped audio out as far as you like with the clear triangle arrow on the top bar. You can also split it btw, and edit it as if it were one long take..

As far as docs go, I think I've only looked at them once since I started using Tracktion: I found that leaving the pop-up help on for a while was enough, although it irritated me somewhat until I discovered the "use longer delay" option in the help menu.

yup, and you can do it in acid too, but i didn't realize it until after i got tracktion

That's the only way that I wish Tracktion were more like ACID, being able to draw loops like that.

Beno, any word if implementing acid-like looping is is progress? I know not for T2, but can you shed some light here? Many of us will end up buying more plugs to add this functionality, and it would be nice to know if it is a priority with Jules. I guess it may dictate how much we might spend on a plugin. I dunno. But it would be nice to know.

Tracktion is not ACID. I tried ACID and could not find out how to create a decent song with it, since I don't use loops. If that's your thing, maybe ACID or FLStudio are more appropriate?

I never understand this kind of answer. is there a problem with someone asking for a new feature in tracktion?

I think his question was begging to be redirected into a feature request. Maybe he doesn't understand what Tracktion is capable of? It does supposedly have timestretch. The first time I used it I definitely wondered what I did wrong.

IMO sean was mostly asking about how to do loops in Tracktion. I reread his question 5 times, but DO NOT see a feature request for Tracktion, only a request for a clearer manual.
