I have no experience using rewire and audio programs, but I tried to rewire the FL studio demo in Tracktion. I know you can use it as a VST, but with rewire I assume the transports and timing issues are better taken care of?
The problem is that I can't see both programs at the same time. It,s either all FL or all T.
Has anyone tried this and found it works well?
Any advice?
Thanks.
Anyone rewire FL Studio in Tracktion?

I'm actually curious about how well FL works as a VST in Tracktion. Regarding seeing both, until T2 comes out, I'm afraid that wouldn't be possible AFAIK. Maybe if you had dual monitors?

I've been ReWiring FL Studio 5.01 into Tracktion for awhile and have been getting acceptable results. I find I hard or at least strange to "close" FL Studio to get back to Trakction, but it generally runs smoothly. I know it's a pain to have to switch between the two, but I've configured my setup so switching back is not a huge hassle. For instance, I ReWire FL Studio to use 3xOSC, FL Keys, BooBass, FPC, and occasionally other FL Studio native plugs like TS-404 or the BeepMap generator (when I'm feeling frisky, of course). The main synths I use have presets on my outboard gear (Evolution UC-16 and UC-33e), so manipulating the settings is done via hardware and not software, eliminating the need to "see" FL Studio at all times.
My recommendation is to create an FLP file of the synths you feel you need from FL Studio (16 channels) and load that up when you use FL Studio as a ReWire client. Then just save that FLP into the same folder where your Tracktion session is to keep them together. (I date all my work, so I might have a 1.12.05 FLP file and a 1.12.05 Tracktion file.) When you load the Tracktion session file, load the FLP file too (manually, which kinda sucks, but oh well), and you'll be good to go.
