Maybe you could program your patterns in Tracktion and just use the drum machine as a module?

Have you tried Stepchild btw?

no haven't tried stepchild...i am kicking myself for not noticing this before i bought. i usually just like to hit record and jam with a drum machine that is programmed. simple simple simple but this is the first piece of audio software that i've seen in a long long time that doesn't do midi sync.

About a year ago when I first started using Tracktion and hanging out on this forum, I remember reading a similar thread to this. At the time, it was stated, that the reason that midi implimentation has been slow to evolve is that Tracktion was originally intended for audio use only. The enhanced Midi capabilities that are coming in T2 seem to be as a direct result of user feedback on this forum ( with a little gentle nudging for Mackie, I'm sure )
For Me, having known very little about Midi programing when I started with Tracktion, this has been somewhat of a blessing in disguise. I have learned a great deal about midi in T1 and now I feel very ready for the new midi features in T2.
One thing to bear in mind is that we are talking about Tracktion, versions 1 and 2. It's still young and growing...Is it perfect, No. but how many software apps has anyone used that was perfect so early in it's lifespan..??
Tracktion may not be for everyone. if it works for you like it does for me, great, but if it doesn't work, there a many other options.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, maybe we should spend more time enjoying what we do have and less time complaining about what we don't have...
That's just my 2 cents....
