I suppose this is true, but when working with square pixels in a 4:3 format, I generally use 720x540.BONES wrote: NTSC D-1 pixels are tall, PAL D-1 pixels are wide but in both cases the final product is 4:3. That's 640x480 square pixels for NTSC and 768x576 for PAL.
Another decent choice of compression formats is Windows Media 9 (".wmv")
Obviously not the best for Mac users, but for the other 99% of the world, it delivers high quality with an excellent compression ratio. Other than that, Quicktime with Sorenson 3, Divx,MPEG-4, or MPEG-2 are the way to go.
