audio cutting off with overlapping wavs

if a wav lasting eight bars is in the same place time wise as one that was 6 or something but you shortened it with the clear arrow....the time when the original stop point of the 6 hits and the wav that is 8 cuts out for a second ...sometimes if i back it up with the mouse til right before, it doesnt do this....everything else works like a dream , and i am no where close to cpu problems or allotta plug ins ......if 2 wavs on 2 different tracks use the same wav and you shorten one does the end time cut off the unshortened one??? i know this is getting longwinded. Is there a way to trim all the tracks in a song to whatever length is selected with the arrows???

Yes, you can trim any clip to whatever lenght you wish. Turn of grid-snap.
Make sure to zoom in. The last clip you moved will have precedence over any other overlapping clips.
