What are folks using for interfaces?

Well?
I'm still waiting on a backordered Spike, which is probably delayed because it will be bundled with T2 (wild guess) and who knows how long that will be... So what are people using for interfaces?
I'm looking at the Tascam US 428, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to map sliders etc. to the right software things... So... what's working for people? What sucks?
For my purposes, I want to be able to plug in at least 2 phantom powered mics (which the Tascam has none of, phantom that is) and two more line level, preferably without external power.
The compressors on the Spike are a cool thing, and I want CLEAN preamps, which it also seems to be able to deliver on. But looking at the price drops on interfaces lately, I wonder if I'll be better off getting something else and using the money left over for T2.
Thanks!

Doesn't that come bundled with ProTools? Do you use that software at all? I was told MBox didn't work with other software. Hmmm, not sure what to think now.MBox.... which works great with Tracktion for me
I've heard of Music Concrete...is there Music Asphalt?

M-Box has ASIO drivers so you can use it with any software supporting ASIO. Pro Tools can't, and probably never will, be able to run on another hardware interface though.
I've heard you can rewire Tracktion into Pro Tools, I would guess the opposite is true.
BTW, does anyone know if Tracktion imports/exports OMF?

it comes with pro tools and some amazingly good plug-ins like the bombfactory compressor.... but ProTools... nah... I thought for a second that I liked it but... guess I was wrong.... I always come back to Tracktion in the endtrappist wrote:Doesn't that come bundled with ProTools? Do you use that software at all? I was told MBox didn't work with other software. Humble but stable and effective Audiophile 24/96 PCI card. I'm using an ART Tube MP Studio V3 for my pres, and it's a lot cleaner than the Behringer mixer I also use; however, that's only 1 phantom powered input.
(The Behringer UB802 has phantom power, too, but after using the Tube MP, I can't bring myself to go through the relatively noisy pres)
