TackyBrowser Alpha
------------------------

Bugs...

[+] at times it doesn't like previewing certain wavs. So if you hear nothing, but your hard drive starts making noise, it's just Tracktion logging the errors. Previewing a different sample usually fixes it.

[+] Load it in a host outside of Tracktion, and it'll probably granade. :^)

[+] Sample Preview isn't fully implemented. Currently you have to select sample with a left click, then right click... and it will preview sample.

[+] Drag n' Drop of of multiple selections isn't functional.

Features...

[+] Smaller colored panels store directories. You can store a directory by dragging the directory to the colored box.

[+] Slider at the bottom of plugin controls Sample Preview Volume.

[+] Drag n' Drop of single selections is functional.

That's it! remember it's an ALPHA release... but I'm interested in how it's generally running (or if it's running at all)... no need ot report hosts outside of Tracktion tho (cos I'm aware). w00t! ;)

BTW, it places a small ini file in your Tracktion directory called tackybrowser.ini ... It contains the directories for the favorites buttons, and stores the preview volume as well so everything can be restored.

Took me two minutes to actually realise there was a volume slider at the bottom of the plug and after that its been working fine :) ,You should see about gettin this into T2 my man ;)

Just needs to autolock the beats to the tempo of the track now when you preview :D :D :D

Thanx for all the cool stuff you make & share ModuLR

I'm confused. How is this different than Tracktion's native import audio file dialog? You can preview your wav files right from there. It doesn't allow inserting multiple files either. 8)

Post

well, it's different in that you can use it whilst it is playing (when you open the import dialog playback stops)

however, it is incredibly buggy yet :D it just kills my T dead... mainly from changing directory.

firstly it died from trying to 'parent' on the first directory list (i have no samples on my C drive), and then when i tried again, i went to windows directory (got an invalid pointer operation error, but then it opened the windows folder) then i tried to open the media folder and it just killed T.

hope that's useful info? it's a great idea and i especially like the fact that you've got different colours for the folder memories.. that's exactly how my brain works nowadays! good luck with the repairs!
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

thanks for the info.. something is definately screwy in there. The Delphi debugger blows..

anyways.. flanneljammies, this isn't much different, except I needed something to drag and drop files on Shortcircuit. Also I've just always liked the idea of having a browser window with my favorite sample directories avail just to preview stuff while a track is looping to see if it kinda fits the vibe.

So far so good! 2 things that are 'needed'--

1. some sort of graphic to show the volume slider, as well as having the initial value at fullscale or fullscale -3 dB or something like that. ;) Even after the above post, I was like, "what the hell volume slider is he talking about?"

2. A way to stop playback of longer files without clicking on a different file.

That's about it. A way to name the coloured 'favourites' would be cool (like the original TackyWrapper), but I could live with the colour-only thing.

Say... are those colours from your website's pallete? They look awfully familiar!

As for crashiness-- well, that's something to be worked on, which is what alphas and betas are for. ;)
