Look, implemented math is math.
Hosts *do* sum the same. The difference is everything around them.
I personally took PristineSpace and SIR, ran some samples through them with the same impulse, and then cross-mixed them. They exactly cancel out.
Anyone who says Pristine Space sounds better than SIR is selling you snake oil. There are plenty of reasons Pristine Space is better than SIR, but sound is not one of them. All due respect to Aleksey (Voxengo) and Knufi (SIR).

No, the computer has to have precedence in the series of calculations. e.g. 1+2 => (1+(1+1)) and ((1)+1)+1)... how would you implement it ???thockin wrote:Look, implemented math is math.
No, they dont sum the same...thockin wrote: Hosts *do* sum the same. The difference is everything around them.
That happens in almost all audio playback devices, it just plays the file. But it is when the levels are set at a non original db that makes the difference, the same goes for hosts.thockin wrote: I personally took PristineSpace and SIR, ran some samples through them with the same impulse, and then cross-mixed them. I did not say it sounded better, only cleaner and clearer.thockin wrote: Anyone who says Pristine Space sounds better than SIR is selling you snake oil. There are plenty of reasons Pristine Space is better than SIR, but sound is not one of them. All due respect to Aleksey (Voxengo) and Knufi (SIR).

Are you trying to make a point? All those things add up to the same result. Whether you do it in binary, ternary, hex, or decimal.lex_strooder wrote: No, the computer has to have precedence in the series of calculations. e.g. 1+2 => (1+(1+1)) and ((1)+1)+1)... how would you implement it ???
Yes, they do. They all add. They do plenty of other things along the way, but in the end they all add.No, they dont sum the same...
And the earth is flat. I know because a friend told me. You can believe anything you want, but to continue to do so in the face of contrary evidence is inane (it's also called religion).I did not say it sounded better, only cleaner and clearer.
Believe what you want, but I've made my point. They sound the same. I seem to recall Aleksey concurring.

I'd love to chalk it up to "difference of opinion". I have the opinion that ((1+1)+1) = (1+(1+1)) = 3 and you seem to believe something else.

ConvoBoy, SIR, PristineSpace, IR-1...
I think they all sound the same with the same impulse and no other processing like filter,eq...(will test them over the weekend).
But different plugins have different features.
In my case Voxengo PristineSpace still rules for its features (also over the expensive Waves IR-1), although in ConvoBoy you have the possibility to save a modified impulse as a new impulse in the full version.

It's good to see feedback. If I can comment on a few items:
in the near future).
On the Convolution story. Convolution is convolution, FFT is FFT. It is an exact process. If you get it even slightly incorrect - the error is obvious. Because FFT based convolution is a burst process, there are some tricks in programming required in order to spread the CPU load evenly. These tricks may be different between vendors, but it should not affect the audio. The other main ways in which convolution engines may differ are in:
Convo Boy v1.03:sinkmusic wrote:I would like a lot Convoboy it was a freeware convulution plugin with zero latency and a browser.
By now, i don't use it anymore, and i think it is a pity...
- Is free.
- Has lower latency than SIR.
- Has a browser for choosing IRs.
- Has quite a few more features that SIR does not have (like being able to load mono IRs (not even of the same length) and combine them.
- Easier to use (a question of taste but...)

- The bit depth used for calculations.
- The way the result is mixed with the dry signal can make a large difference in the way the sound is perceived. Even the gain makeup on the convolution result (just a multiplication) will make a very different perception of the result when mixed with the dry signal (this is automatic in some products).
- The addition of postprocessing filters to add warmth etc.

Sorry if this is OT but just wondering if this is still the case "FreEq Boy is FREE for existing Elevayta customers", as found here http://www.kvraudio.com/get/986.html

Only before up to June last year - it was a promotion up to then.morelia wrote:Sorry if this is OT but just wondering if this is still the case "FreEq Boy is FREE for existing Elevayta customers", as found here http://www.kvraudio.com/get/986.html

The details in the KvR database are incorrect in this respect.

thockin, the difference lays in math calculation precision plane. SIR and Pristine Space *do not* give same results.
Maybe this difference is not as big as it seems, but it exists nevertheless.
Of course, it may be so small there's no sense in getting Pristine Space for the sake of it alone, but this quality allowed me to implement oversampling in Elephant 2, resampling code of r8brain PRO. It is a high quality.

_ ok : sorry for the browser (i was thinking about revolverb lite : non latency, but non browser);Convo Boy v1.03:

_ nethertheless, i can't find the real free version to download, i only find a trial version... So if the plugin is not available on the site, and replaced by a trial version, you can't say it is freeware, but trialware, which really makes a difference to me, nad make me use SIR for its many features, or Revolverblite for its zero-latency...
if you make the old version easily available to everyone else, so you'll say it is free, but nowadays, it is not really right...

I don't understand.sinkmusic wrote: if you make the old version easily available to everyone else, so you'll say it is free, but nowadays, it is not really right...
V1.03i, the trial version (as it is called at Share-it) is easily available at:
http://www.shareit.com/demoreg.html?productid=300005596
You can also get there by going to my site and clicking on the image of Convo Boy.
As far as I am aware, and judging by the high download rate, this link is working fine.
Just sign up and download.
It's a fully functioning version, no license required, no time limit. That IS the FREE version.

Thanks for this effect.
What is the difference between the free version and the (extremely) inexpensive version?
