TackyBrowser v1.01
------------------------

[+] Fixed browser not displaying folders with custom icons.
[+] VST effect, and VST instrument versions are now included (useful for cubase users, tho we all know they *need* to use Tracktion! hehehe).

OLD NEWS BELOW
----------------------

The last few bits have been added, and is now considered a release. Here are the new features.

[+] Preview for samplerates outside of default project samplerate now playback at appropriate speed (note, you will hear aliasing--it's a quick a dirty fix, but a fix none the less)

[+] added *.mid, *.midi to the file mask, so they will now show up in the browser.

[+] Slightly larger interface, dirs/files scroll horizontally providing more viewspace.

[+] Drag n' Drop fully functional.. both single file and multiple selection.

[+] Though solely designed with Tracktion in mind, it's fully functional in other hosts. Other hosts are for WIMPS! ;^)

[+] Sample preview implementation has changed. Double-Click a sample will preview a wav. Right-Click will halt preview.

[+] Sample preview Volume set to 100% by default. Green bar on bottom *IS* Sample Preview Volume Slider

[+] Sample preview DOES NOT SUPPORT ANY Microshaft ACM compressed wavs. You will hear silence if attempting to preview ACM wavs.

Things that have note changed...

[+] Colored boxes store directories. You can store a directory by dragging dir to colored box.

[+] Tackybrowser places a file 'tackybrowser.ini' in your host's directory (because if you are using it in different hosts, you can have independent directory settings). Should it start acting weird (which is shouldn't), feel free to delete the ini file.. it will create a new one. It's a simple text file with 7 entries.

1> Preview Volume
2-7> Favorties Directories 1-6

Bugs
------
None that I know of...

Future
------
There will probably be very minor changes.

Thanks

Tobybear for his Delphi Template. MichaL MutL's MiTeC Explorer Delphi Component. Steinburgers for the VST spec, tho I have no idea why your sequencer has a mixer! :P

Thx man. this is a very usefull tool.
No problems here "so far" :)

Post

It's a tool to drag and drop directly some WAV or MID samples into a sequencer ?

Post

Any way to stop playback of large files once begun?

Wolfen.. you can use it to preview wavs.. you can drag them on to a track, into T's sampler, or drag them on to other VSTs that support drag n' drop.
You can browse and preview your files while your track is actually playing/looping, so you can get a feel for whether a sample fits the vibe of your track. Another use would be placing the broswer before an effect chain.. so anything you preview is proccessed by an fx chain. I just find these kinda options useful.. as I'm always tweaking samples. My honest motive were the above reasons. ;)

Lunch.. Double-Click starts preview, Right-Click stops preview.

BTW for those interested, I usually keep this effect in the Master Effects box... so it kinda acts like a button in that it's location on the screen in consistant... but I throw it behind fx on diff track when needed.

Excellent bit of software, thanks!

Suggestions/FRs:

1. double right click to go up a folder level, faster because you don't have to move up to the ^ button.

2. mouse wheel support to scroll up/down. (edit: didn't seem to work before, but just now it did...hmmm.)

3. resizable window.

4. button to toggle "details" view showing rate/bits/channels/bytes.

(edit)
5. Does e-to-e have to be on, or is that a bug?

It's interesting !

Is your soft based on the Juce library ?

Not that I presume to speak for ModuLR, but I'm pretty sure he used Delphi.

Tackybrowser has officially been released as v1.00 now. All info has been updated at the top of the thread. It will properly preview file sample rates which differ from the project sample rate now. Midi files will now show up in the browser as well.

Ti.. the mousewheel is functional in the browser (you just have to make sure it has focus). The resizable window probably won't happen... and the browser portion is basically a totally seperate component from the component which provides the wav information. It would take a lot of work to make it display bit rates, samplerate, etc in a detail view with the way this thing has been cobbled together... So if the suggetion isn't dead simple to implement then I'll have to pass only because I don't want this to become a project that consumes lots of time. I'd rather work on my music like everyone else... :D

That being said, hopefully it's still useful... w00t! :)

BTW wolfen, this is delphi thing... tho I really like juce! When to comes to throwing something together fast.. delphi is just a lot easier for me.
