I got these plug-in few months ago and got me finally some time to play with it.
Unfortunaly I can’t find the way to use it within Traction. I know that it have midi out but until now I can’t get it to record into a track.
If someone here could explain how I should use Sonic Charge MicroTonic within Traction.
The manual is very sparse about how to use it in a host and covers only the basic use of this plug-in. I already requested some help from Magnus Lidström, at no avail.

Any help is much appreciated.

oops - sorry - my response was incorrect...but I don't see a way offhand to do it.

Here is an example of how to do it on a PC:

1. Put Microtonic on Track 1

2. Highlight Track 1 (click to the left, it will turn red)

3. Insert a "new midi clip" of a few bars length.

4. Hit "R" to start recording. Hit it again to stop after a few seconds

5. Be sure the track is highlighted so you can render "into the project directory"

HERE'S THE SECRET: You must have the midi input device (the green arrow thingummy on the left) pointing to Track 1, or else the above won't work.

6. The rendered audio is probably going to be longer than the empty midi clip you created, so just trim, cut and copy til the audio starts, loops and ends like you want.

Thanks SaviorNeeded very appreciated.
How did you discovered this?

I'm on a Mac, but this is how I do it;

select track
add new empty midi (G)
render track

like other similar plugs, you have to add a blank midi track to render or the host sees nothing to render.

Hi d'versa--

Sorry, I've been asleep for 8 hours. :P

How did I discover this? hmmm...I don't remember! But I was new to Tracktion and MicroTonic was the first synth I ever bought, I think, so I was really motivated to record it--I didn't want to feel like I wasted my money. As I recall, I just tried everything I could think of to make it work. By the way, I'm NOT one of those guys that say Tracktion is easy to grasp, no manual required! I have learned a lot from this forum and there are many guys that I owe a debt to for their tips and ideas.

Say, did you know that you can use MicroTonic to play another synth? I put DR008 after MT and load an acoustic drum set into DR008. Works great! Because MT puts out very short midi notes, this only works with some synths, not all--but it's fun to experiment.

Enjoy Tracktion and MT :)

You can also render a MIDI file of MicroTonic's pattern and re-import, which can be a good way to add more sophisticated grooves than the simple shuffle it provides. Of course, once it's a MIDI clip you can route it to any plug you like.

If you use the above trick you can quantise the note lengths if needed.
