Yeah, I know this... now, try to work with a bunch of jazz musicians (Bb=Bb), a bunch of classically trained people (Bb=B) and a mixture of german (Bb=B) and international (Bb=Bb) sheets.sjm wrote: I've lost track of the number of times I've felt it necessary to explain what I meant when outlining my latest song's chord progression.
I've been through that - thank you, NEVER EVER again!
Being more of a Rock/Pop/Jazz kinda educated guy I usually stick to international conventions. Problem is, there's not exactly a phonetic expression for "Bb" in german. So I tend to say "B flat"... as if we wouldn't have enough americanisms allready ("Bes" really doesn't make it, it's only confusing people).
Alternatively, with people I know, I'm using "H" and "B" for phonetic communication, "B" and "Bb" for anything written.
Having said that, I just HATE the folks who invented the "H".
I mean, it's so much more logical using a B too... A B C D E F G - there's your white keys.
