Yeah, I know this... now, try to work with a bunch of jazz musicians (Bb=Bb), a bunch of classically trained people (Bb=B) and a mixture of german (Bb=B) and international (Bb=Bb) sheets.
I've been through that - thank you, NEVER EVER again!

Being more of a Rock/Pop/Jazz kinda educated guy I usually stick to international conventions. Problem is, there's not exactly a phonetic expression for "Bb" in german. So I tend to say "B flat"... as if we wouldn't have enough americanisms allready ("Bes" really doesn't make it, it's only confusing people).
Alternatively, with people I know, I'm using "H" and "B" for phonetic communication, "B" and "Bb" for anything written.

Having said that, I just HATE the folks who invented the "H".
I mean, it's so much more logical using a B too... A B C D E F G - there's your white keys.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

..an 'H' ???

Well, I can't spell my name with musical notes, but I can use my initials in a song. (GDB) Does that count for anything? ;)

take care,

I still prefer G....G Strings'n'all that. playing with an A String just doesn't do it.

"Air on a G-String" ....I never understood how you get air on a G string...I thought the whole design precluded air getting under a G string....around a G string, maybe. Funny thing is that you twang a G string and it sounds more like a soprano H to me. Although that seems to have been patented I hear...

Hit's 'Air, hin the Henglish manner.

Aaaaaaaaaaaah....that hexplains a few things.

yeah I keep telling them, the internet will force them to change - it's only a question of time.

I'd settle for a G double sharp myself. (Gx).

I've been going with A for the time being.
I want to work with G in the future, but I think I need to spend a few thousand dollars on gear and synths beforehand, ya know, to make sure I can get it to sound decent and all.
Ideas are bulletproof... I am not.

Good plan, videzyrah. I'd get a Virus. Not only is it the best synth for playing in G (don't believe me? just ask Mike Pinder, and tell him I said hi) but its name starts with "vi" -- just like yours. :-) Good omen, yes?

I take it you play Mellotron then! (hence the Pinder ref as well!)

DSP (I process signals of a digital nature...)
