Well

Ok I’m dummy but I didn’t know about the Traction free registration option available till the end of the last year (Am I right ?). Is there any chance do to it now – or is the question and the answer obviously hopeless.

Appreciate any help

Best regards

Sorry, but the free version is no longer available. I believe Dec. 31 2004 was the last day if memory serves. Regardless of the exact date, it's not available.

I wish it still were available. I have a senior citizen friend that would love a copy, but can't afford it. I wish I would have taken the opportunity and got him a license when it was available.

It is a pity

And I was so exited when I heard that I could use this software. Well good luck for those who managed to get a free copy.

Thank you for the answer

I had a friend that downloaded and installed before the end of the NFR giveaway, then he just got his keyfile last week.

Seemed to work - but maybe he's just in the 30 day no-noise grace period. I don't think so, since what made him go get the keyfile was the noise burst.

If you did download the NFR before the end date (even the special one for TapeOp) I think you might still be able to use the 2nd machine option on the senior citizen's computer with keyfile.

Hey

I’m not sure if we are talking about the same software. (I am looking for a way to register Mackie Traction for free – as the promo time is out of date)

But if we are - maybe there is still a chance, because I did download Traction before the end of last year (so within the “promotion time”) I just didn’t registered it because of my stupidity  .

So what should I do – e-mail some one and explain and then receive the unlock key file ? (I’m not familiar with the expression “2nd machine option on the senior citizen's compute

Best regards and I’m looking forward for the answer

It's the registration that's important, but there are different 'phases' of the registration, so as long as you've done the first one (signing up for a my.mackie.com account via the NFR link), you should be alrighty-dokey.

I didn't get the NFR version, have had the normal 2 licenses for a long time now. Only thing is I use one on my Mac and one on my PC. I'm thinking about relinquishing the mac license to him since my Powerbook is best used for working in Reason anyway. I have to think hard before I do that though. It could be a bad idea if I get new laptop.

I think you are asking if you can authorize your demo version now for free. Well, you can't any more. You had to download the NFR version during the time it was available. The only way of authorizing the software now is to buy it.

Are we actually allowed to "give" our second machine number to someone else? Strikes me there is a difference between "one license for two machines" and "two licences for two users".. :?:

That's what I was thinking.

Anyone want to donate their NFR Mackie account to a senior citizen, let me know.

my understanding is that the 2 machine numbers are for a single user to use the same tracktion license on two machines (ie - a desktop and a lappie) ... it is VERY unlikely that you can split the machine numbers across two seperate users OPENLY or LEGALLY ...

I'm pretty sure this is correct. I asked the same question once, but I can't remember if I got an official response. Either way, the overall response was "no, that's not legal"
