I'm looking for a rucksack designed to carry a laptop and a two octave midi keyboard/soundcard thing. Any good links/experiences anyone?

Cheers,

Al

One that doesnt look like it contains a very expensive laptop is usually a good move...

Good point. I guess that rules out the M-audio branded Studio Pack. I guess i just want something with padding and two compartments.

What do other KVR laptop users carry their machines in?

The same problem applies to camera backpacks. Thieves learn pretty fast what brands mean "expensive gear likely to be inside."

One possibility: get a heavy-duty neoprene laptop sleeve for protection, and slide that into a regular daypack or something similar.

My laptop stays almost always in one place in the lab, so I can't give you a personal choice.

I tried searching for this before, but there really isn't one out there other than the M-audio one that I could find at least. I did find a nice backpack for my laptop, though. It's a Samsonite, and you can't even tell there's a laptop inside it. I have an Edirol PCR-A30, and I doubt there's anything around for it other than a gig bag.

They make some nice bags. Some are for laptops. You could probably fit a small keyboard with it. I have the one called "Track". It is in the skateboard section. It is really sturdy and comfortable. All of their bags that I have seen in stores seem well made, but you can probably find a better deal at Amazon. Sometimes seeing them in person is better.

I think you could probably fit a laptop and a 2 octave keyboard in mine.

I nearly bought one of these last week, it has a dedicated laptop section in the back, er, the bit that rests on your back...

Of course it won't fit your keyboard

Can't say I've used a rucksack, but I recently got a very good laptop trolley.

It's brill 8)

My laptop is a high spec 17" thing that weighs an absolute ton. Just walking round a long tube tunnel, such as changing lines at Green Park, is enough to give backache.

Now I simply pull a trolley.

I'm thinking of getting a small portable projector next as there's room for it on the trolley :D

You may scoff ... but 10 years of dragging around expensive heavy high-end laptops (yes, eat sh#t and be jealous - it's free :P ) has done me no good at all.

Trolleys are v practical ... ... even more so if I lived in a freezing cold place like Calgary where ppl are prone to getting rheumaticks much earlier :hihi:

Yes ...but the snows so deep that your trolly will need a good set of Tires ... And I am more prone to balding than rheumaticks. But thats alright ... we keep warm by growing Beards ... Uhmmm ...no wait a Minute ... thats cause i'm too lazy to find a Razor.

What was this topic about?

What? Not tracks?

I'd have thought in Calgary in mid-winter, one of these laptop cases would a be great help.

I've got a Dell one that I bought when I got me lappy.

There is no logos on it or any sort of insignia, apart from a couple of silver stripes. I can get me laptop, UC-16 and me tiny eKeys in there (at a push) and a stack of leads, PSU, cables, etc.

v good :D
