Help me help me help me...please

I need to know how to remove a vocal from a track and use it as an Accapella.

I presume there is a VST out there...But i don't know what i should be looking for.

Anyone got an answer?

I'm not aware that this can be done. You can EQ out the bass etc but any music at the same freq as the vox will remain. I could be totally wrong though.

I have a great free VST that removes the Vocal (approx 90% of it). But that only removes the vocal and keeps the track, i want one that does it the other way round.

I recently found some plugin, but I don't exactly remember the name of it.
It's doing some really good job on some files.

This cant be done unless for some strange reason the vocal was panned to the left while the music was panned to the right,or vice versa, its like trying to extract the eggs from a cake thats been baked, on the other hand you can do the reverse with varying degrees of success, that is remove the vocal to leave the music, but even then its not like just turning the fader down for the vocal on the multitrack, its always gonna sound wierd, not that this helps you in the least...

No... You are pretty much correct. If the track is recorded with the vocals panned-center, then one might be able to put left and right channels in 180 phase, then sum to a mono track. But alas, that really only sounds viable in theory... Usually there is too much other stuff left over when summed.

I 've never tried it but if you can remove the vocal I think you could phase reverse the vocal-less track and mix it with the original. Just a thought ...

I was thinking so as well - but check that "Knockout" plugin.
It's far away from being perfect at all, but it's doing a somewhat reasonable job though.

I am happy with a removal of 70-90%.

I am remixing a friends group and luckily their Tracks are a very simple, Acoustic & Flute sound. So any left over sound could easily be sorted.

Btw, I haven't been all that sucessful with knockout myself (didn't try all that hard either), but listen to the 2 demo MP3s on that site... if this is not faked somehow, it should work marvelleously on some material.
