I haven't seen anything in the manual about zero crossings. How do you make sure your edit is on a zero crossing? Thank you.

hmmmnnn ...
... just tried on max zoom to split a clip at a zero crossing ... and its all a bit hit and miss since the smallest snap value (ie - at max zoom) still isnt small enough to accurately hit the crossing points ...
... still ... you can get PRETTY close and then use a tiny exponential fade in to cover any little clickage ...

DOH !!!
just turn snapping off and you CAN accurately hit zero-crossings when you zoom right in to waveforms ...

Thanks for the help. When I zoom in, I can't get down to the sample level. I put a little fade in, hopefully that will cover it. Thanks for everyone's help.

and then never touch the clip again when snapping is active. otherwise tracktion moves it to the nearest snap position and you can't do anything against this. and you won't be abe to move it to another bar or so without losing it's ofset to the bar beginning. i hate this in tracktion !!!!!

Yes, not having relative snap can be a real hassle. As a workaround, when it's absolutely critical to move something that's been meticulously edited, I just set my in and out markers at the nearest full bar and render.aldi wrote:and then never touch the clip again when snapping is active. otherwise tracktion moves it to the nearest snap position and you can't do anything against this. and you won't be abe to move it to another bar or so without losing it's ofset to the bar beginning. i hate this in tracktion !!!!!

A better workaround might be to create a blank clip with its start point at the last bar-start, then select this together with the wanted clip and move them together. When you're happy simply delete the empty clip. (This actually provides a perfect relative snap function, albeit with a few extra clicks to get there..)Lunch Money wrote:Yes, not having relative snap can be a real hassle. Yup, good one. Way better than mine. For some reason, it never occurred to me that you can insert a new audio clip. I always just assumed insert new clip was MIDI only, and since I so infrequently start a new MIDI clip from scratch, I didn't remember the audio option being there!
Mind you...
Now that I'm REALLY thinking about it... it could be done with a MIDI clip, too, since it's just a temporary 'space filler'.
Excellent tip, plat!
