while i'm draggin an audio clip to another track or to another place on the same track, i get weird cracling noises.

and another thing is that i get some sort of white noise every now and then. it only last for a couple od seconds than it fades away. this usually happens after i move around an audio clip, but not always.

Never had that myself.. I would suggest ditching the Audigy however.

A bit more RAM probably wouldn't hurt either..

Does this happen mainly when your CPU load is high, or randomly? Have you tried longer latency settings to see if that affects the problem?

i fuckin get this with the demo song!!!

i know i have to ditch my soundcard and get more ram but these aren't the causes for the weird sounds. cus it's the first time it happened to me in tracktion (yesterday i had a clean install) and never on any other host

of what? Tracktion? OS?

If you re-installed XP did you remember to switch "processor scheduling" to "background services"?

Doesn’t Tracktion hiss if it’s un-registered??

I would blame the sound card for the crackling try a buffer of 50ms?

Also do you have the latest drivers for your sound card?

I herd that the latest drivers are a big improvement on how they used to be

All the best

First thing I thought was, "did he register?"

The next thing was: Is he aware of audible scrubbing at the cursor line?

Hmm Good idea but that has never crackeld for me, just sounded more like a cd skiping :?

Post

But of course it would all depend on the content being scrubbed, and how quickly, no?

Sounds really crackly to me most of the time because I'm only scrubbing in small increments and the cursor is on whatever random sample it happens to be on. :D

i was talkin about a clean install of tracktion.
yes, my processor is set to background services
yes i am a registered user.

and could u tell me more about scrubbing? is it when u play a single clip? if so, i have to say that i wasn't doin that. i grabbe the clip from its upper red border

Call me old-fashionned, but I just don't stick my fingers inside any running machinery. So I also don't drag around the clips while playing.

well... it wasn't playing
:help:

Ok then.. how loud actually is the sound you hear while dragging? Are you wearing headphones, or driving the speakers quite loudly? And the sound is rather soft but noticeable, like a purring cat?

If these questions are answered with YES, then my bet is, it's your soundcard picking up noise from the harddisk or motherboard. Was it you that had an SB Audigy? This would happen in any other host for that matter, its due to bad shielding for radio interference.

Post

well: the sound was kinda soft and kinda like a pouring cat, but i wasn't wearing headphones, and the speakers weren't really that loud. let's say maybe 3/4 of the total volume. maybe even less.

Post

3/4 could be loud enough for this. Card is a SB Audigy? Thats your culprit then!
