Filter groups feature idea

What would have been cool in t2 if they made filter groups. Like say you made a really cool setup for say a guitar amp from a compressor. Then you could select them multiple just as you can select clips in the clip section, by pressing alt and dragging a box over it, and then copying it to say another track with guitar. Or like you could select them and then right click and say "Group selected" and then you could move them around or save them to a filter group preset.
probably not in t2 but a good idea you think?

i know racks but this would be more easier to do. Think about it. What if you want to do an identical rack yet separate? It would be pretty cool say if you have some specific filters and just select multi ones and just copy them over down a few tracks.
I'm not oblivious to racks, im saying in addition to using racks you could copy and select multiple filters. What if you wanted to do that to like a clip instead of just a filter box? What if you want to delete a group of filters? See what i mean?

You can do all this racks. Make a rack preset. Then use it as many times as you want in as many edits as you want.

so you dont think it'd be good to freaking select multiple filters and move them around
alright, just thought it would be good for consistency of program operation

u don’t have to have only one instance of a rack loaded??
Tracks don’t all have to go through the same rack!

you know i actually agree with ron on this one...
i requested the exact same thing a while ago and was told that racks would do it but filter groups would be much more convenient and consistant with the way tracktion already operates.
one of the big selling points of tracktion is its workflow, but using racks is really just a work around for this and is really counter intuitive for this specific task. racks are contained by the project, while filter groups would be contained by tracks. when you ctrl drag a normal filter from track to another, it creates a copy of the filter. if you ctrl drag a rack filter it doesn't create a copy of the rack, both tracks go to the same rack filter. this makes sense for modular routings that involve multiple tracks but not for simple groupings of filters. also, rack filters do not operate in the same way as track filter sections. if you wanted to change the order of plugins after they have been put into a rack you have to unconnect all the plugs and then connect them back up which is a pain.
i think that filter grouping would just make a lot of sense and fit right in with tracktions design and way of working...

I never said Ron's idea wasn't a good one. I think it is too. But at this point, there are still lots of other features that could be implemented that would actually add new functionality. This request doesn't really add anything new as far what you can actually do with Tracktion. Personally, I think there are other things more worthy of Jules' time.

I DO think it's a good idea, too, Ron, but I also think that it's just one of those "nice little touches" features that would make what's already possible just a wee bit quicker.
I still think it should be done in Racks, but if you select multiple filters, you can auto-wrap them all at once. That makes sense to me.
