Loop recording in T2 - please explain

So,
I'm desparate for it and would like to know if it's going to work like it does in Sonar (lanes in one track) or in the old Cubase VST (lanes also)
or is it going to be something completely different?
Point is, it should not be destructive / overwriting thing, and it should be possible to comp the takes to get a final one.
huh,
Possible?

No Lanes. But it is completely non destructive. Basically, after a loop record pass (just engage loop and hit record), you'll end up with a clip with a small plus sign in the right hand corner. Clicking on the plus sign will show a pop up list allowing you to choose any of the files recorded in the record pass. This loop clip can moved around and all takes of the loop clip move together. You can easily divide it and choose different takes for each clip and comp together a perfect take. Once your finished, there is a command to delete any unused takes.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Ben,
I'd prefer lanes (as you can visually see all takes one under another) though.
Well, let's say I'll see what I prefer when I see T2 in action.

1) is there a way to rename these files that appear in the pop-up menu?
2) is there a button we can press to expand each one to a new track?
i guess if it is needed by anyone a workaround could be to just copy it down to several empty tracks, and then just tell each version to be a different file.
it does sound like a very simple and effective way of operating tho, without getting too messy. thanks a lot for sharing this information with us!
i just hope that it's not a case of "oh, this part was better on Acou_Guit_000211543.wav", "oh, no it was Acou_Guit_000211539.wav!
"

Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

(Take 1), (Take 2), etc. are automatically apended to the name of the file, and clips so it easy to tell which is which.

what happens, when i cut such a loop clip. will it cut all takes ?
And then you can choose which take to use independantly for each of the newly formed clips.

to take it further:
is there an easy way to combine takes (to make a composite take from many takes) without making new tracks?
thanks

I'm wondering how this will work. Will you be able to view all the takes at the same time? Or do you just make your cuts and select which take you want to take the clip out of? It would be nice to see all the takes, whether in lanes or with a way of expanding all to their own tracks, with a master track, or something like that. Then again, the way T2 does it may be easier than anybody realizes. I sure hope so. I'm sure Jules and the team thought about it a bunch, and we won't be disappointed.
So Beno, how about an early screenshot? Ya know, just to tie us over until the release? There hasn't been any info in a while, and I think it would be a nice gift. If not, oh well, I guess I will just wait.
Thanks Beno for your work!

Sounds like a yes to me.Beno wrote:Yup.

Split your clip with the "/" and then choose a take for each new clip. Perfect IMO..

I imagine it's easier to do it when you have takes one under another seeing all at once.
I probably just don't get it, but as I understand it, only the last take will be visible with an option to choose whatever take before it.
But let's say half of take 34 is perfect and i'll need another 45% from take 52, however the missing 5% were best somewhere between takes 10 and 15.
I guess that's when the lanes come in handy.
Or did I miss something?

you missed something
you listen thru the takes. you chose take 34, cut it at the point, where it becomes bad. now you step thru the takes of the remaining clip (right side from where you cut it) and find take 52 fits your needs. but the begining of take 52 isn't that good, so you cut the begining. now you only have tho choose wich take sounds good for the little clip leftside of where you cut take 52.
thats a great way of handeling it. thx jules.
but know (and this goes to greg who thought looprecording must offer a way to group clips) we have the answer. there will still be no grouping of clips !! sadly

If you cut a clip, I would assume that you can still drag the handles of the 'new' clips and then cross-fade, too.
I was kind of hoping for lanes, but having 40 lanes of takes wouldn't always be that easy to sort through, either.
Either method is certainly better than what I'm doing right now, which is pressing 'stop', moving takes to 'storage' tracks, and manually going back to my 'in' marker before recording again.
For a 1-bar phrase, it's taking longer to move clips around than to record each new clip.
