i'm gonna atleast try it before i decide if it's worth 250. but it's true at that price lvl there are some very tempting hw products it will have to compete with. and if i save up about 150 more i can get a vox tonelab, and it has a tube that glows!

Justifying your asking price by comparing it to those companies is a pointless endeavor. Noone's gonna care how much better it sounds if like scuzzphut says, the asking price discourages even a demo installation.Midiworks wrote:What about $499 for Guitar Rig or $399 for Amplitube ?championrabbit wrote:Sorry, but that price is crazy.
Learn from Toontrack's example; keep the price crazy-low, sell many, many copies and don't worry about warez.
I suggest $50.
Those ARE crazy prices.
Specialy considering that they cant even touch the sound of this amp.![]()
And I agree about the warez comments. The crack teams whether justified or not often believe themselves in the position of cyber Robin Hoods at dispensing 'justice' against greedy developers, so fair warning, because you're asking for it..

at 250$ I'm definetely out - that's approximately what I paid for my J-Station and I can carry my J-Station around with me
Amplitube's price is nothing else than a ridiculous joke to me

You will soon. It will look like the followingSascha Franck wrote:I *think* 250 is a bit high too.
But, from what I've heard so far, this one will be sounding just right.
Would like to get my hands on it.

Sad but true. Look at Jorgen Aase, the guy that makes energyXT. His software is great and definitly innovative but he charges 50$ only for changing the way you make music. I know quite a few people using expensive w*rez (even in studios), but only regged users of eXT.

Yup.Midiworks wrote: What about $499 for Guitar Rig or $399 for Amplitube ?
Those ARE crazy prices.
Does that make your price less crazy?
Nope.
I'm not going to buy your product for $250.Any improvement at this stage ?
Just use your ears and compare, then you will hear who's products need improvements.![]()
Period.
There's no point trying to convince me that it's great, because I am not going to pay $250.
Doesn't matter what you say in this regard; the consumer is ALWAYS right. In this case, I (we) are not willing to spend $250 on a product by a company that might cease to exist at any moment due to poor sales (at $250 I guarantee your sales will be few.)Unknown company name, sure.
But does this automaticaly means unproven people ?
I dont think so.
The curtain will be lifted soon enough.
No problem; it will be sad if (having worked to hard on this product) you don't see any money because your pricing is so crazy. Thanks for your thoughts
Best of luck!

Anyway, take care of the suggestions people are giving you here. Set an affordable price, 99$ would be perfect imho. You could also set up some group-buys in order to create a consistant starting userbase, give your customers some bonus (like new presets, audio loops... dunno..) don't let your software be shared by crackers... you might discourage warezed copies instead.

dammit! hurry up with that demo
i'm seriously considering amplitude 1 right now with the sampletank2 L upgrade deal that IK has going on.
$250? i can't make one single comment on that price since i haven't demoed anything, so I'll just leave it at that.

At $250.00 it's priced above Izotope Trash ($199), which in my opinion is one of the better amp sims out there, even it is the least intuitive to use.
It will be interesting to see if Amplitube lives up to all this early and I know that I will be taking a close look at it when it comes available.
Your demo's sound good but like many others have said, I would not be willing to put out $250 for a product that I'm not sure fits my tastes. Having tried it and finding it to a better product than Trash I might be prepared to spend as much as the cost of Trash but even that would be a tough sell, as Trash has been in the market for some time and most of the bugs would have worked themselves out by this point in time.

Take a leaf out of Jules book when he realeased Tracktion. It was a revolusionary product but in order to get a foot in the door he made it exceedingly good value ($80).
A true comparison in terms of complexity and size of the projects would put a 'niche' VST such as a guitar amp way below the price of a sequencer.
Also a company has massive overheads compared to the 'one man band' which justifies at least in part their higher pricing.
Why not sell it for $50 and then think about making a version 2 with a higher price?

For explications of the "draft" GUI, please read here:

Now you can see something.
Many good arguments came up in the last posts.
I will reply later.

Well, sound clips are ok, its character kind of reminds me of bomb factory SansAmp Plug in, and I like that, although, I must say that factory presets does not do justice to Amplitube and Guitar Rig, so it is not fair to compare them by listening to factory sounds.
The sound of your amp simulator appears just a little bit too "clear" if you know what I mean? Distortion guitars have kind of 80's sound to them, but it is hard to say just from listening to demo mp3s. It would be nice if it would be possible to make it sound more aggressive and raw too, when it comes to hi gain sounds.
I'll check it when demo comes out anyway.
Midiworks, if it is possible to save presets in demo version and if you like presets I have made for Amplitube (you can download them here at K-V-R, and listen to them here http://www.milking-rosewood.com/Audio/D ... Sounds.mp3), I'll gladly make some more presets for your plug-in, and demo for them, no problem.
Cheers

Well, alot would say 3500.00 for my Bogner head is outragous and no one would ever buy.
But, I did. hehe
The only thing was I could hear it before I bought it.
Amplitube and Native Instruments have legit reasons for charging so much.
They have payroll to meet, buildings to pay rent on,accountants etc.
I see this as a "side-project" for you and not your actual income. Is this true?
I own a couple virtual amps already and wouldnt mind adding yours to the collection just because I've seen you put in the work at this forum over several months.
But, at 250.00 you would lose my support.
$99 sounds much more applicable IMHO
One question...is the amp midi capable?
Can you change presets via midi?
