Mackie should give it back to Jules if they go down

What makes you think they'd have that choice? The receivers/liquidators div up a company, and their only obligation is to get as much value for assets/brands as they can in the allotted time span.aMUSEd wrote:Mackie should give it back to Jules if they go down

I think no matter how you dice it, Tracktions future looks grim. Fortunately it runs stable on computer, so even if there are no upgrades, I will at least be able to use and enjoy it.

If they know the way the wind is blowing they could do it before it gets to that point. Anyway screw the liquidators - bunch of vulturesvalley wrote:What makes you think they'd have that choice? It doesn't work like that. That'd be no different to selling your house to your mate for a quid then filing for bankruptcy. All that'll happen is your mate will find himself in court as well.aMUSEd wrote: If they know the way the wind is blowing they could do it before it gets to that point.

Unlikely in the near to medium near future.Gabriel_S wrote:Until it is no longer compatible with the newer computers.
Greatly more likely, and a valid concern.NPProject wrote:Or until you want to re-authorize it.

It will also become a problem as plugin developers stop testing to insure compatibility with Tracktion. Apple OS, Windows, and sound card driver updates will also depend on a lot of luck for Tracktion to remain functional...
See, this is why I don't get when people who have no issues (for now) get bent out of shape when the rest of us make noise about it. Persuading Mackie to keep Tracktion updated helps all users.

I'm certainly glad I'm not in the DAW business. The costs for support and fixing issues must pretty much soak up whatever profit there is for the software. At some point a rewrite may be the most efficient way to resolve most of the issues. Who knows. If T2 was stable and T3 continues to cause issues for a fair number of people, then the flaws in the code may require more extensive rewriting. Communicating this may not be in the company's best interests in a competitive environment with a substantial, long recession in place. None of the scenarios that the company has as options are going to be ideal, and where to put whatever resources are available becomes a strategic decision. All the complaining going on won't change this given the two-year span of time for the current version. Patience is the best, if not only, way to deal with this situation.

I know - I just have no patience for the stupidities of capitalism. This basically amounts to intellectual vandalism - I couldn't give a toss about their silly profits - it's preservation of the genius represented in Tracktion that concerns me. No other programme is quite like it and it would be a great loss for it to go down.valley wrote:It doesn't work like that. Well you know I/we appreciate your posts and feedback Valley. you seem to be the only one with any affiliation to Traction that responds here, but unfortunately I have to disagree. The Mack users have been facing the compatibility issue for quite some time now with absolutely no fix in site. There are new versions of Waves and many other plugs coming out daily (VST3 for all hosts is just around the corner). If the Traction development team does not keep their product updated, it will certainly fall into the incompatibility/black hole dilemma sooner than we think.valley wrote:Unlikely in the near to medium near future.Gabriel_S wrote:Until it is no longer compatible with the newer computers.

Who knows? Companies never actually admit it if they are in trouble. Perhaps it's just a hardware subcontractor issue they were having?
