I needed to know it. Thank you. :wink: Your synth is one of the best among freebies, even among some commercial ones.

Hi folks,

Sorry if this question has been asked in other OSCs.

Where do the rules stand on trancegates? Are they allowed?

I'm assuming they are allowed because they're not modulation or pitch-shifting effects. To my mind, the same effect could be achieved by volume automation in my DAW, but it's more convenient for me to use a trancegate plugin.

Thanks!

In my last entry I used a plugin for gating duties with the same logic (can be achieved with volume automation) and I haven't been told that it isn't allowed so I'd say you're in the clear.

I'm going to use the alpha is this is not outside of the rules because of the resizable GUI. Is there any way to 'make it stick'? Every time I load an instance on a track I have to resize the GUI.
Thanks!

It was agreed on one of the first pages of this thread that for this competition you should NOT use the alpha.

Thanks, good to know

The very definition of alpha is "probably won't stick" :)

Beta means "has stuck, I've attempted to scrub it off but it seems stuck for good, at least until I can etch it away with something more volatile!"

In other words any feature in a release version will potentially be replaced, but only by something that also covers the original feature. For example the velocity + bender routing capability in the last version (7) is going to be replaced by the route menu in the next (8). It rids us of any knobs related to this function (if it isn't a depth knob in a route table row) but multiplies the capability of the feature.

I really liked the clap. I've tried to make this possible using the modulators although the issue is of course that ideally a clap has uneven spacing, while the modulators as they are (with no frequency mod) can only do even spacing.

Did you achieve this with multiple instances (or drum mode?) + modulator delay for the envelopes? I figure a multi-tap delay would be possible using a single instance for the initial part of the clap, then multiply that at various delays in the multi-tap followed by another instance for the release portion. Alternatively it could be done by layering as many different presets with variable delay times as needed.

A lot of cool cymbals are made this way too, one sound for the initial part and another for the release.

I suppose most of those instances went to various unisons though :)

Classic Wagtunes;

Does anyone else have random crashes with preset change during playback in Bitwig Studio?
