Yeah, I use MonkeyC Rewind which can do the same thing. Ultimately it's just a bit annoying to have to use workarounds for a feature of a plugin that doesn't work correctly.pdxindy wrote: Fri Mar 14, 2025 4:50 pm
This seems like a simple thing to improve.
I work around it by using the Midi CAP plugin. It is always recording midi so I hit play on PB and then drag the midi from Midi CAP plugin into my DAW.

I haven't demo'ed Playbeat yet but I thought I'd ask a quick question.
Does the sequencer have a pattern chain mode or does each pattern/lane have to be triggered by midi to play consecutive patterns?

Of course I would rather Playbeat accounted for all the sequencer features for its midi drag-n-drop.seangm wrote: Fri Mar 14, 2025 5:09 pmI didn't know about the Midi CAP plugin, sounds like a good workaround. I'm going to look into it, thanks.pdxindy wrote: Fri Mar 14, 2025 4:50 pmThis seems like a simple thing to improve.cake builder wrote: Fri Mar 14, 2025 3:24 pmI honestly don't think so, as I provided visual and audio examples of what I was talking about.

That said, MIdi CAP is so useful for me. I use it to "bounce" midi in Bitwig.

I bought Rewind without checking the system requirements, only to discover afterwords it requires iLok. My bad... then I was busy and didn't take advantage of their return policy before it expired. Never installed it.cake builder wrote: Fri Mar 14, 2025 5:12 pm

Does Playbeat 4 allow you to relocate the factory library to an external HD? There were issues with trying to do this with Playbeat 3
Edit: yep, it seems like this is possible.

On the other side, just recently, I discovered by trying to create an account with them that I already have an account with them (my email address) and that I purchased Playbeat (bundled with Riffer and their other tools) years ago. Damn dementiacarambo wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 3:55 pmyep, and also people trying to use it for what it is not, it is just a sequencer for beats
Can anyone confirm if I can do this?
Completely ignore their content and somehow point Playbeat to my own Kicks, Snare, Cymbal, and Synth samples, and from other,e when randomizing kits and patterns force Playbeat to never use their but my own samples with their patterns?
I mean, would that work? Would Playbeat "know" which folder contains my kicks versus which contains Synths and then load them and "shuffle" them intelligently so that my Claps doesn't end in the Playbest kick slot?
All of my samples are in their dedicated folders, btw. Only kicks are in the kicks folder, so to speak.

I do kinda wish the AI would be consistent about
where it puts specific drum types, and that the
specific type would be sorted by type when browsing. Not a big deal, just a peeve.

Thanks heaps for accomodating the feature request to add MIDI learn support for additional parameters. Exciting that your working on exposing more thing for DAW automation too. Are you able to share any anticipated timelines for exposing more things for DAW automation?

A few extra feature requests / bug reports on 4.0.9 that I've posted each to the Audiomodern Forum:
Feature Requests:
===============
Add Smart, Key and Scale buttons to MIDI learn & DAW Automation.
Add More Genres to the AI Genres, perhaps make them consistent with the list of genres in the presets browser.
Provide an option to 'select all' presets within a list, rather than having to click on them all one by one.
Bug Reports:
===========
Bug when deselecting favourites and smart preset using the filters on the left fro Favourites and Smart that results in a plugin crash. It's possible to deselect the preset using the All, Factory Presets or Packs Filters which doesn't crash.
Bug in the MIDI parameters value to cycle through the Quantisation values in Steps tab. In Riffer for example a MIDI CC value of 11 will move from 1/1 to 1/12, however this value is 12 in Playbeat. Consequently when using a controller that supports stepped parameters like the Roto Control, some Quantisation values are missed in Playbeat. Riffer works fine and will cycle through every value in the Quanitsation list. For example the 1/32T value is skipped in Playbear when a MIDI CC value of 115 is used, but advances when the value is 116, which doesn't work for controllers that support stepped parameters as the stepped change uses a value of 115.
