It really loves a reverb, or a delay with a lot of feedback and some filtering, to take the edge off some and turn it into eerie soundscape territory.
It also makes a good source for Spectraphon in SAM mode.

It sends out four different parts, one for pads, one for drones, and two separate "motifs", which are basically highly configurable arps. It's designed for generating new ideas/noodling, hence the name NDLR.
Here's a brief intro from their prototype stage:

It's a fantastic noisemaker with no input at all, I guess a little bit like a Benjolin in some ways but also a bit like a complex oscillator that doesn't track 1V/OCT and does whatever it wants. You can get some really great sounding chord drones out of it, or clicks or weird little Morse Code bleeps or whatever.

I caved with the Moog equivalent, as a true completist.ghettosynth wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2023 5:07 am In the category of "what have I bought," I guess I own a crave for the time being. It's not been taken out of the packaging yet, it might go back. Ordered on a whim because Amazon had them below retail in a moment where I was thinking about the value of simple standalone synth/sequencers with sequence memory, but were then out of stock. I was going to revisit whether it was a good idea at some point, but then all of a sudden "shipping now, your crave."
That looks too hip for its own good. Every time I see one of these I drool. Then I remind myself that A) I'm not a very good singer, and B) I don't sing into mics much anyway, and C) I already have too many mics that I rarely use.elxsound wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2023 5:14 am Keeping on topic, this is one of the new additions. $80 from Critter & Guittari. Brooklyn hipster outfit from the look of things, but I do like the mic. I got it to use with Push 3 and I actually like how it sounds!

I've been curious about that Critter and Guitarri mic, I feel like it could be a great mic for feedback with small speakers. I like other C&G stuff I've used.elxsound wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2023 5:14 am Keeping on topic, this is one of the new additions. $80 from Critter & Guittari.
What got me interested in this one was the saturation when the mic gain was maxed. It makes it an interesting choice for recording.justin3am wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2023 5:04 pmI've been curious about that Critter and Guitarri mic, I feel like it could be a great mic for feedback with small speakers. I’m guessing PC has a 10% off for 4th of July? Just saying… if you don’t mind black or grey, they’re carrying them, plus I think you have the luxury of demoing before buying too?justin3am wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2023 9:38 pm That saturation behavior is what interested me. I could connect it directly to my little DIY 5w amp without a preamp, for simple feedback experiments.
Could be another nice character mic, to use along side my Carbonphone too.
