Did support for aftertouch make it into this T3 version?
Thanks
No sorry. Its really something we want to do. To be honest there isn't a huge reason it isn't there already short of not enough typing time. Soon hopefully.

Ben
:(

I'm still running T1.6 NFR - I promised myself as soon as Tracktion supported aftertouch(the only feature i really need that T1.6 doesn't have) I'd buy T2... Of course that never happened, and now no sign of it in T3 either. Looking forward to having the excuse to spend some money... hope its soon!

ps. i think i've said the same thing with every release (major or minor) of Tracktion since the NFR release, so sorry if i'm sounding like a broken roecord ;)

drooartz wrote:Beno - quick question on Punch-In recording in T3. Current behavior is that existing audio on the track being recorded on drops out a bit before the marked punch-in point. It should work so that the existing audio drops right at the punch-in point. I know this is a small thing, but it bugs the heck out of me. Any chance you'd know if this has been addressed?
If you do an "auto-crossfade" at the junction where the clips meet, this will eliminate the little pop, glitch that happens when the curser crosses that line. At least that is what I have found to work.

Hey Ben,
I wonder if the "optimization" of the MIDI editor in T3 includes significant changes, or just minor tweaks?
As much as I like T2, I still feel the editor is anything BUT "a snap to use" (having to constantly change tools is a pain!). I still find myself going back to Live all the time for MIDI.

Midi Editor tips for those that don't know...

The pencil tool can act like a selection tool in some respect. You can have the pencil tool up, and still still shift/ctrl+select different notes. You don't have to switch to the selection tool.. that's only if you REALLY need to lasso a group of notes.

Whatever tool you are on, you can ctrl+select a note on the piano roll... and it will select all notes in the midi clip.

Don't fear the shortcut keys, it makes the midi editor pretty easy to use. Also, holding down the shortcut key while using a tool, then releasing when done will automatically return it to your previously selected tool. This makes using something like the eraser pretty easy. I tend to just use the pencil tool cos I can select with it if need be. Hold down 'E' and it will switch.. erase whatever, then release 'E' and it'll switch back to the pencil automatically.

Most probably know this.. but just in case... also definately not saying there isn't room for improvement. ;)

I think if they made double-click-a-note-to-erase-it would be a step in the right direction.

Good tips BTW ModuLR, I never knew that stuff, cheers.

No doubt. Would be sweet if somebody here at KVR started making QWERTY keyboards with the T2/T3 shortcuts labeled on it. Kind of like:

I'd grab something like that in a heartbeat.

I have coincidentally just sent an email of the new T3 Key Commands to these guys today. They contacted me before T3 came out and told them to wait till T3.

Hey Beno......

Would you mind making a temporary sticky thread once those EditorsKeys are available? Those look pretty sweet.

You always seem one step ahead!

Thanks!

"Automation lock to clip"

Midi clips?

Does this fix this problem...?

If I have midi tracks with automation on them and then decide to change the tempo of the song, the automation does not align properly with the midi any longer and cannot be fixed because the spacing between the midi notes has changed and the automation has not.

Context:

I first received tracktion 1.x with my onyx 1640, was very pleased with my online upgrade to T2, but am now considering shelling out the big bucks to get the ultimate upgrade package.

This in large part because i like to loop, acid don't fly on the mac, i don't have a big library of samples, and i haven't i invested in any plug ins.

But my question stems from the fact that as needed over time I have printed and assembled about half of the T2 documentation into a three ring binder...

Question: Will the ultimate bundle have printed tracktion documentation?

Also, should i go with the download, will the Mackie store sell the printed manuals separately?

Thanks:

Thank you Beno for fielding all of these questions and concerns with such patience!

I do hope there will be a reasonably priced on line upgrade to Traction3 core system. I would certainly want to keep all the plugins that came with Traction2, such as Final Mix and all the Mackie and MDA plugins as well as a few VST plugins I have added from third party sources along the way. I use Traction 90% for audio recording and maybe 10% midi stuff so I have all the plugins and midi samples I want to carry at this point. No need for all the new samples etc at this time and I will happily purchase the Ultra Pack upgrade if I do decide I need them, but not now. I have been using Traction for two and a half years now, have put out 4 albums and I have tauted Traction to many non believers so keep it going with a core version download soon.
