I would be curious as to whether Mackie would consider a reasonable purchase offer for everything concerning Tracktion. I would be equally as curious as to whether another development team would be interested in continuos development of the app.

OK, I'll bite, my $0.02, etc.:

The recession began last summer, and is affecting Loud the way it's affecting the rest of us. Loud probably has nothing to spend on product development right now, and it probably won't for a while. Like everyone else, the company will have to trim their product line as hardware sales continue to be downward. Recessions last about a year and recoveries following recessions take as long as ten years.

I've never bought the idea that Loud/Mackie is intent on abandoning Tracktion. The product is just too good. But software development costs money. Tracktion is an aging product needing intense improvement to meet the challenges of Vista/Windows 7, a debilitating piracy rate, a sound engine that needs to be brought to grade level, and the bug problem that cuts out half the market.

I love and enjoy Tracktion as much as anyone, and I'd like to be optimistic. Software doesn't cost anybody as much as hardware. Software allows people to make do with existing equipment longer. What doesn't kill Loud may make it stronger in the form of lessons learned. So, I don't think it'll be tommorow, but I think we'll have a better Tracktion at some point.
Handy Tip: You can save a bunch of time by knowing how to play the instrument.

I can't fault your $0.02 barwafl, for sure. I gave Tracktion 2 a serious demo back in the day and while it ultimately wasn't for me I was very impressed and the world needs that kind of diversity.

Yeah, it's certainly not a good time to pour development money into a piece of software that exists (at least partly) as a value-added bundle item. I can't really see Mackie throwing in the towel and offering Live Lite or Cubase LE instead, but people may have to wait until folks start buying lots of hardware again before Tracktion gets scrubbed up. :(

Sorry for bumping the wrong thread, guess that's what I get for using search. :-o

Or make it Open Source
What makes you think they'd have that choice? The receivers/liquidators div up a company, and their only obligation is to get as much value for assets/brands as they can in the allotted time span.
If they know the way the wind is blowing they could do it before it gets to that point. Anyway screw the liquidators - bunch of vultures
I was reminded of this thread - prophetic or wishful thinking?
