T-RackS CS T-RackS Saturator X$99.99Buy

So am I right in thinking this is probably worth the $99.99 price of entry for the album construction/export options alone?

I would say that, for newcomers, it's a bargain. Definitely worth taking.

Just a question: If I buy the base version, and since I have all T-Racks plug-ins, will all of them get updated to version 5?

Will I be able to open old projects using t-racks cs with t-racks 5 plugins. Will they catch up automatically or I will have to transfer them manually like I had to do at the time of migration from t-racks 3 to 4. That's the question
T-RackS 5 will be a separate installation so your previous projects would not be affected and you can migrate projects as you wish (or not).
thats very bad news. you really must consider backward compatibility for new version of t-racks.
We do this with major releases in order to make sure your previous projects remain intact. It gives you the most control over whether you want to replace plugins in an older session/project or not. You can choose to migrate any projects where it make sense and leave others where it may not.

They are not remastered but they will work in T-RackS 5 and will still get some sonic benefit due to the updated audio engine in T-RackS 5.

Ok I saw the video yesterday but haven't had time to follow this thread. Anybody care to catch me up as to where we are now ? Release date....Best upgrade price etc...... :)

"Shipping October 2017".

See my chart on page 4 for a comparison. Of course, it all depends on what you've got so far.

Since its stand-alone, does this mean you no longer have to install the entire
store onto your computer? I see a cart icon on the interface? I'm guessing its just
been integrated. Opening a link to a webpage would be fine.

I know this will be an unpopular opinion, but the store is imho, the most intrusive
form of copy protection ever, and the reason my interest in IK products have
waned completely.

I just want the plugins, not the store. I'm perfectly fine skipping IK stuff, just wondering
if its worth my time to have a look.

Thanks but that's the problem, I don't know what I've got. There are so many entries in my IK account it's hard to tell what's what. I do see TRacks 3 and a bunch of individual TRacks plugins. Several of my Orders are not active links so I can't see what I purchased in those orders. I've accumulated almost every IK plugin or at least all the ones I wanted up to this point. I see no Promotions or Crossgrades in my Account.

Anyway I suppose if I look at $99 Pre-Order minus Jam Points for DynaMu, EQual, One, Master Match plus the metering and new features of TR4 it works out to be a pretty good deal. But of course these days it doesn't hurt to look for the best (better)...deal... :)

Oh and can the new units be used outside of the TR4 Shell as individual plugins ? I assume yes....

Aren't they all listed in your My Products Area? (Or are the Custom Shop purchases not listed?)

How about listing them in your DAW, filtering by IK Multimedia oe TrackS or ...?

Or, if you've got "all the ones you wanted", then the €99 deal could be best - that would give:
-- 4 new powerful modules: Master Match, Dyna-Mu, EQual, ONE,
-- Fully redesigned, fully resizable, flexible interface with faster workflow,
-- New audiophile-grade audio engine, completely improved from input to output,
-- Enhanced, extensive broadcast ready professional metering tools,
-- Album assembly with multi-format file export

And all your current plug-ins will load into T-Rack 5 too. Peter said:

Yes, the new modules can run as individual plug-ins.

can you be a bit clearer about that - if we instead upgrade to t-racks5 max are the 'old' plugins then also 'remastered' with new UIs etc, or are you saying that irregardless the 'old' plugins ae unchanged and only benefit from the new wrapper and new audio engine?

Post

Yes I am curious also. What do you mean by remastered? I pre-ordered t-racks 5 thinking all the modules I previously owned were no different than what's offered in t-racks 5's individual modules. If the modules are different in t-racks 5 it seems ridiculous it wasn't mentioned.

What Peter is saying is seemed very clear: 1) same fundamental modeling behind the scenes (i.e. "no remaster" or improved modeling), 2) an improved audio engine (higher sampling rates, better bit-depth precision), 3) new UI's (no dinosaur logo).

The only thing I find interesting in this upgrade is the Vari-Mu. Other than that, I can honestly say that there's nothing that has me even remotely excited about this. Will any of us hear the difference in the improved audio engine? Probably not. I don't like "One" style plugins, already have a great set of flexible precision EQ's, and really just view master matching as gimmicky. Plus, I'd honestly not want to "master" using only T-Racks plugins within the shell, I'd rather have more flexibility. The parallel processing options are neat, but my DAW does that now. Metering? Covered! Lastly, the T-Racks GUI's are very well sized and legible here so having a resizable UI (still not sure if that's the plugin UI's or just the shell around them) isn't particularly appealing.

I thought the AT4 upgrade was underwhelming at the time in terms of new gear, but it still had some really cool new functionality (cab room, speaker swapping) to compensate for the relative lack of new gear it included. This T-Racks update is even more underwhelming in that regard because there's only one piece of new gear I'd be interested in checking out and none of the other new functionality is remotely appealing to me. This would be an easy one to pass on at any upgrade price.

If IK wanted to appeal to me, they'd have taken another stab at the White 2A, Black76 (or at least a new Blue Stripe 76), and Fairchild 670, which I think could all benefit from updates. Or throw an LA-3A in there or a Distressor clone.

And obviously, these are just my opinions. In fact, I'm generally pro-IK. They did a great job with Ampeg SVX 2 (sound and upgrade pricing) and Fender Collection 2 recently, and I own a ton of T-Racks gear. Just disappointed here.
