Trying in Samplitude PRO-X 12.5 Win 7. The touch link controls do not seem to work on the Vari Mu.

How do you expect them to work?

Sorry - I just read the user guide and see how they work now - very nice. However, attempting to register the Beta Tester name and serial is not working for me and I cut and pasted them as follows:

Some times I get a "registration failed" dialog, and some times it says "registration successful", but in both cases I still get the reg dialog box upon opening the plug each time and the crackling continues.

HAH! Found a way to turn Presswerk into a gate/downward expander!
(I guess it's also a good idea to set the sidechain delay to minimum when using Presswerk this way)

It's simple really, all you have to do is engage the Auto makeup option when in dry + expand mode!

btw, hard at work, fine-tuning some (INIT) patches...

It would be great if the GUI could fit the size of the FET and OPTO view modes.

Would look better without all that empty space below, IMHO.

That design and color scheme looks much better than the final GUI actually.

Some may prefer it because of the stronger contrast between the knobs and the background. If you have poor eye sight, the contrast can be important. I think the new UI is more aesthetically pleasing, but the contrast between elements isn't as strong.

Switching from Vari-mu back to normal view always changes the channel selector to Channel 1... and it gets me every time, I always forget to hit "both".

It would also be great if for vari-mu there was a lock both channels button. At first I thought that's what the middle buttons were, it would be great if there was another one, maybe off to the left or right that is a toggle that lights and makes it so all knob changes on one of the channels does both and you can't accidentally move a channel independently.

It's very rare that I find myself wanting to use a compressor with different settings for each channel (only ever in MS and I can't think of a single time I've ever wanted to do that with LR) so I'd think that would be a secondary option, rather than the default.

I have not come across the Penny Lane Easter Egg as of yet..........or are you guys joking?

In the opto and fet view, you can right-click on that u-he sticker where you can select different ones. Also, you can open the presswerk sticker folder in which you can put your own sticker (which I did). And if you double click on that strip of emulated adhesive tape, you can enter your own text.

I haven't tried it yet, though thank you for replying!

Yeah, this makes me feel like the panels are unfinished and look cheaper than the main one. Strange choice, they seem less worked and a bit "neglected"...

+1 just keep the window size constant please.

Why not add a little "collapse free space" button (or something with a cooler name)? So the window would stay the same size during preset switching, but you could manually reduce it to the 'smaller' version if needed...? Might be the best of both worlds...

has anyone complained about the wood sides?

seems a waste of space and comes across as ridiculous to me in a GUI.

otherwise the GUI is a home run. i love it.

I have to agree - for me those elements are really ---- why, why, why, would be so much better without it - the GUI that is!

Also agree that the integration between "views" or mode-panels could be better.

Sound seems good so far - but I have to use it a lot more to have a qualified opinion.

Well, they could put the Optical and Fet compressors on the same page and make it possible to bypass either of them, so they could be both on if needed.

And to the bottom they could make small "routing" window, e.g. LA-2A -> LN1176 or vice versa , that would be something!

EDIT: By the way, so far it sounds really good! I put it on the drum buss, tweaked some well known knobs of opto & fet and whoa, the groove is alive!
