;)

"Completion" is highly overrated.

I guess it all depends how you like to work. I work with a lot of midi and Nuendo now offers what Cubase offers. So, for midi, it's great. Nuendo, from what I understand , was created to compete pretty much directly with ProTools. So, if that's the kind of thing you like, jump on it.

Again, it's all subjective.

whats completion?!
The following statement is true.
The previous statement is false.

lets not forget about system link

System Link? Hardly a selling feature! :D I suspect that's the reason for the winkie... :)

Is this thread serious? T2 is a piece of shiite compared to Nuendo. Nuendo has much better editing capabilities, a higher quality audio engine, and good Asio support.

How does that work, then?

Now with improved MIDI jitter!

Actually thats one of the reasons i might switch.

are there any features that T2 has that Nuendo doesn't?

that's the real question

voodoo. The same way it always works.

Why is it? You use software because it does what you need in a way that you like. It really doesn't matter which features are unique to which hosts unless you are specifically lookiong for those features. Otherwise it's all just a load of dick waving, surely?

T2 has 64bit summing, but since it is a feature I never use, I don't really see any reason to trumpet the fact at users of hosts that don't. I do use racks, and I do *extensively* use in-place editing, so that, coupled with a workflow I happen to like, makes Tracktion an excellent choice for me. YMMV.

LIMIT: try one of the many other available and non-host dependent options. Also, at least consider the possibility that your way of working could be more easily modified than your setup. I am a bit aesthetically biased, though-- all the possibilities of technology aside, I think it's just an ugly solution to link up a bunch of systems in order to achieve something that we've been doing since 800mHz Pentium IIIs. We get complacent and just source more and more power for ourselves instead of becoming more efficient. A world problem, really, that's manifesting itself in our very studios! :o

seamoss: er... heaps!...! I can't believe you'd even ask that. At the end of the day, though, it's not about a feature-list comparison. I won't hold Nuendo's inelegance with handling plug-ins against it, because it IS a robust application for the multimedia producer. (if you're not doing video, btw, why get Nuendo unless it's as cheap as Graham is getting it for?). I'm not going to point to its lack of a modular routing sub-environment, or its inability to simply point to any track as a destination output in order to create infinitely configurable submixes and track routing. I won't slander it for its inability to execute MIDI and Audio clips in the same track (last I checked), or for its lack of very basic-seeming but life-changing features like simple click-dragging of envelopes directly on the track clips. And I certainly won't mention that one of the "features" of Tracktion is the ability to work without digging through menus and windows to find the "features" it already has.

No, that would be silly.

Instead, I'll reiterate-- it's not a feature race, it's about which is doing the job YOU need it to do.

LijE-- even the people who prefer Nuendo over Tracktion will easily recognize your post for what it is.

i think it would be great if developers started making T2 specific plugins, like "channel strips" , but they were integrated within the T2 app using proprietary shit...for example, if you bought the one paticular channel strip plug in, as you assign the T2 tracks to the plugin, you build a virtual mixer like what you get in Cubase or Protools...in other words, as opposed to seperate vst plugins, there would be a new protocol for T2 that would allow one to build T2 specific graphic mixer/sends/returns, just taking the plugin idea one step further....kind of hard to explain, basically bringing a modular environment into the T2 world where one could buy the basic app and add the tools and plugs they need beyond the basic app....

well the easiest place to locate T specific features would be on the filter surface itself (ala the vol pan filter).

It'd be sweet if that was opened up for development, but Jules has always firmly resisted creating a plugin framework for T, and to be fair I can understand why, as it is a lot of hard work with no clear return.

LIMIT: Ah, OK. ;) Surely a PCI cage would be a better solution, then? :D
