IS Tracktion really better than Nuendo 3 ???

I can get a good working copy of latest Nuendo release practically free of charge, so price is no object.
The question is would Nuendo give me real benefits over T2 I am used to work with?
I like simplicity and sound of T2, but I understand that it still misses some critical posibilities of more advanced DAWs.
Any suggestions?

Much as I love T2, and I -personally- wouldn't find much use for Nuendo's features, it IS more feature-loaded (some people would say feature-bloated) than Tracktion.

Video support is superior, for example, and the new warp audio function seems neato.

If it's available for practically free of charge, I don't see any reason not to give it a try. You'll probably be back to T2 after the heady experience of trying out all the 'extras' Nuendo has to offer, which can be a fun experience, but which will not sustain the soul. Or something. 'N stuff.

Depends what you need it for. I switched from Nuendo to T2 and have no regrets, but then I hardly needed many of the advanced features of Nuendo.

But if you can get Nuendo practically free of charge, and it's not a cracked version, then why not get it and try for yourself? That sounds like a rare opportunity.

Or, if it's 'nearly free' because it's essentially a gift from a friend or a colleauge ("Meh, it's yours for the cost of a case of beer") then you can always give Nuendo back to them so that it can find a more loving home, and consider the case of beer a rental fee for helping you make up your own mind. 'Sides, you can share it with'em.

Anyway, as usual, only you can make that decision. The question "Will this sequencer suit me more than another one or not?" is just as hard for someone else to answer as "Will I like this girl more than my last girlfriend?"

Nuendo is Cubase with video. It's a very deep, very complete app. I personally don't need everything that Nuendo has to offer, but if you use it for awhile, you'll figure out whether you do or not.

Now, for cheap, and if it's legit? I'd take it in a minute.

Remember that if it's legit, it'll include a dongle. IOW, no dongle = cracked. There's no two ways about it.

That's a nice oversimplification, isn't it?

And to answer the original question: When you ask like this it is basically a question of taste and workflow and not feature wise. Nuendo has a mixer. That might be the most obvious difference between the two. I recommend to check it out if it's a legal nearly free copy.

Nuendo feature wise is waaaaay deeper and more complete in my opinion than Tracktion. I've used them both and I would take Nuendo any day of the week.

However, many of us are not slaves to features. I don't need 'completion' if one of the features that make it "complete" also make it bloated and annoying to navigate.



"Completion" is highly overrated.
