This sounds like a good trick. But how about a template for those of us (like me) who rack-impaired? I still mess up trying to route these monsters.

This is about as simple of a rack setup as you can imagine. Just think of your lead lines and chords that you use in your songs - way more complicated than this implementation of a rack.

I knock out an archive with T1.6 with all freebie effects/amp sims so that you can give it a whirl.

Should be posted by the end of lunch hour here in Michigan.

Thanks Scott. I haven't used T2 for about 3 weeks so naturally I have completely forgotten how to do anything other than open it. Tracktion seems to belie it's simplicity in my hands.

The .zip of the tracktion archive is at the auditorium in the link above.

Better amp simulations exist and it's cool to put two totally different ones on left and right ear, but I don't know what amp sims you have. If you have Tracktion, you have those that are in the archive.

Thank Scott. I will give this a whirl tonight. Amp sims: I have iZotope Trash and I am going to order Amplitube this week just to get the AT2 upgrade - I don't like AT1 very muc but expect AT2 to be a big improvement being less fake sounding. I am struggling to get over my fear of the dongle - I am pretty confiident now that it won't screw completely up my system).

Before dropping cash on Amplitube.... Why not try out Voxengo's Boogex, with some nice impulse responses from Noisevault?

How much is the upgrade by the way? I see it costs $300 to buy it. I'd buy a Line 6 PODxt for that much and have it available to walk around with me if I needed it.

Or a VOX tonelab, or , well, you get the point.

And no dongles.

Or a Toneport UX2.

However, the upgrade is certainly less than $300. AT1 alone costs $250 and then you get a free upgrade to AT2. I believe the upgrade is $199. (software only, not hardware component)

Boogex? Really? I'm sure I tried that one out and now don't have it installed on my machine.

Toneport UX2 is just for your computer - can't use it to gig. PODxt does both, serves as an amp sim on the stage or at home - same with VOX tonelab.

Boogex is CPU hungry with long IRs but I really like how it makes my cheap bass sound pretty killer with an Ampeg/SM57 impulse response. I'm trying to remember which IR I really liked on my guitar - I'll find it at home.

I don't recall Gordon saying he was going to gig with it. Indeed, if he's going for the AT2, he's likely to be using it with his computer.

I have a Behrihnger VAmp2 which I use when I play live and I record with as well. I love it. But I would like the rackmount version of the POD pro or even the VAmp pro for all the routing possibilities. The VAMP2 is the best value for CDN$185 I have ever seen. Boogex is OK but limited I think.

Gordon, I love my V-Amp 2 as well - had it for about 3 years. What is the missing sound from the Amplitube that you can't replicate with the V-Amp 2?

It's not what's missing, it's something about the sound. Amplitube just sounds odd to me. Not quite right in the high mids for example - a kind of opaque gloss. Otherwise it is pretty versatile. I just hope AT2 is at leat as good as GR2- it's demo was damn fun and an improvement over AT1 by far.
