Sorry, I am not always stuck to this forum so for me it's just kind of new thread. I just come here sometimes to gain infos or when I really need help. BTW, you previously did help me much with organizing my files recently and I really thank you for that. Your post is printed and in my file ;)

I fully understand if you don't want to get into discussions on this subject and seriously, I don't want either. It won't push the things.

My opinion is that something unfair is floating so it won't be much to make it fair to make customers happy.

End of transmission.

Yes, so back to my original question; How is that reverb?

Post

It is not available ! (ok, just joking :)

Post

People who want the pluggins' should go buy the "BOXED" version!!! PERIOD!!!

I had to wait 3 months for my boxed version then paid $299 for it!!

Listening to people wine about how they deserve the free plugin's after paying exactly $20 is a joke. If you wan't 'em you can Buy them !!! Simple 'aint it!!!

Post

Buy a boxed version??? You must be mad! (oh... wait a minute...)

So, you paid quite a lot more than you should and waited for a long time. This doesn't mean that everybody else should.

Now, I asked if anybody can tell me about the quality of the plugins. I opted to PAY for them. Never did I say that I should get them for free.

Post

Non U.S. customers - no rebate.
So either upgrade online & eventually have to buy the full boxed version (no upgrades past 2.5/3 right?) - in effect paying for T1 & T2 full whack (with perhaps a bit for the online upgrade also), or actually buy the T2 box (if one can find it) with no rebate - thus essentially paying for T1 & T2 full whack (again).
What kind of 'upgrade' (I use the term advisedly) policy is that?
How can anyone be suprised that some people are pissed off? Mackie (whilst beno & others seem like nice chaps) marketing appears to suck.
If they sorted the rebates for non-U.S. customers it wouldn't appear to bad, but as it stands.....
IMO (of course).

I just don't care the new mixing plug as there are many great freebie on the net and I already have too much plugins in my vstplugins folder!!

Post

Pete: the reverb sounds really good. However, like many plug-ins, you'll find that it doesn't replace every reverb you've ever owned. I still like Ambience on vocals with nice long lush tails, for example.

It's definitely better than much of the freeware plug-ins I've used, which isn't meant to be saying that "freeware" as a category is poor since it's absolutely not-- everyone knows that I'm a freeware advocate. But I've simply only tried mainly freeware for reverbs.

SpinAudio's M2 has a very different approach, and a different sound to most of the presets (though of course it's highly tweakable). I don't see the Mackie 'Verb replacing M2 or convolution (courtesy of Convo Boy, for me) for most jobs, but I DO see it being my go-to utility reverb.

Lunch Money wrote:Wow, that is so NOT how I see things. ;) You're entitled to your opinion.

However, you're not entitled to disseminate false information. Mackie DID make it clear from the start that the download path was a much different one, and ALSO made it exceedingly clear that this was being done as a favour to loyal Tracktioneers (they're RETURNING the loyalty with the download upgrade, not giving you a fricking "up yours") but that they wouldn't be doing the download thang moving forward.

If you either didn't see the literature, didn't participate in the conversations here, or didn't seek clarification, that's a shame and you're probably not totally to blame. But that doesn't mean the information wasn't there, it just means that you didn't come across it.

I paid full price for Tracktion 1 about 2 months before Tracktion 2 was available. I then chose the download version because I prefer not to have boxes and use materials and because some people were saying there was no install option to install just tracktion and not third party plug-ins which I didn't really want on my system. Mackie made it clear that there would be no third party plug-ins included. Understood and agreed. That is different than not including Tracktion specific plug-ins. They did include Tracktion specific plug-ins at that time. Why not now?

I purchased a product. I paid the price the company asked for. If they think it is too small to deserve full support, then they should have made it higher. Nobody did me a favor there.

You say it was an act of loyalty to give the download version, but then where is the loyalty now? Does loyalty expire after 6 months? If you are going to offer it, it should be fully supported and should receive all Tracktion specific upgrades or at the least some paid path to stay a full user.

Again, there is not one reason given why download users do not get the new plug-ins. Nobody can purchase the download version now so there is no need to give incentive towards the boxed version. They are offered free to other T2 users, but download users are just SOL. No option, period.

Mackie loses nothing (except a bit o bandwidth) to give the plugs to all registered Tracktion users. It would cost them nothing. It gains them nothing by not giving the plug-ins.

Please offer a reason why it makes sense to exclude a portion of your user base from Tracktion specific upgrades.

It is some bureaucratic mumbo-jumbo. Some mackie muck who is not in touch with users made some decision and a whole bunch of users are left out, without explanation, and without option. I don't call that loyalty, or thoughtful concern for your user base.

Mackie offered download users no option and said nothing. Of course it is an up yours to download users. They couldn't even be bothered to say something about it.

I really like the small developers here on KVR. Dealing with Urs and Zebra 2 is a breath of fresh air. Stands in stark contrast to companies like Mackie.

Thank you Lunch Money for posting a relevant reply! :)

I'm a firm believer in a slim setup and so I'd like to have a small choice of pluings of a respectable quality. It's good to hear that the Mackie verb fits the bill. If we non US customers get some kind of upgrade deal, I'll probably spring for it and get rid of some of my free reverbs.

I personally know, pdxindy, that you're exhaustingly petulant and that some of the information you're spreading continues to be false. Further, instead of elaborating on your points, you just keep repeating them. Saying the same thing 5 times doesn't make it seem any more correct.

That's pretty much enough for me, since I don't get paid by Mackie to fight their battles for them.

Again, though, in case somebody else is reading this thread: Mackie DID and CONTINUES at all stages to tell the download customers their options. To claim otherwise is simply false.

From the Mackie website, when you select the option to upgrade the downloadable version:
Online purchase -- $20 USD with a valid credit card. This license will allow you to unlock the full version of Tracktion 2. Note: This license includes only the plug-ins that are available in the Tracktion 2 demo. (The Tracktion 2 plug-in bundle by IK Multimedia, LinPlug and more is ONLY available with the retail boxed version of T2.)
If the demo version includes these new plug-ins, I'll happy issue a public apology and send as many e-mails on your behalf to Mackie, asking them to not lie. Although, strictly speaking, when you bought upgrade, the demo clearly did NOT include these. It was a "what you see is what you get" deal, period.

[edit: this is the first thing you see upon choosing to upgrade. In addition, it WAS discussed here in great detail and unless I'm remembering falsely, you were around for those discussions. I don't know for sure, so you can certainly correct me if you weren't an active RMS forum member around the time of T2's release.]

Pete: I also prefer a slim setup. I don't like mentioning names, but this reverb directly replaces 2 of my other freeware 'verbs.

Which only gets me 1 plug-in "slimmer", but I think I'm down to minimum reverbs now:

Roomverb M2 - still the king for algorithmic reverb, IMO
Convo Boy - gotta have convolution!
Ambience - tops for special lush reverbs, esp. with the cool hold feature.
Mackie Reverb - perfect utility reverb. Enough options to produce a good sound, but not as many as M2, so when I want SOME control but don't want to spend all day with a 'verb, this will be the one.

ONCE AGAIN: back to the original question; How is that reverb? (and the other plugins)

Post

The compressors are excellent, the EQ is an EQ (ie. I haven't noticed anything revolutionary), and I rather like the reverb.

I'm pretty sure there was already a thread done about them, if you search the RMS forum. ;)
