Er... no... that's a straight up lie if I ever read one.
Maybe I went a bit overboard there

But - If you read this sos article, there's really not much left of Reason's sounds in the end product

Cheers
You've totally missed the point though. The reason that Liam used Reason is not because of the sounds. It was because it got him writing again, it injected itself into his creative vein and he got out of his slump.

The fact he used Reason isn't exciting because "wow! This sounds like Reason gone mad!!" its because Reason enabled Liam to get out of his creative ditch.

The fact he re-recorded most of the sounds isn't even a slur against Reason, and is hardly worth pointing out.

Unless you like music for its technical aspects rather than its emotive aspects.

Either way, the album was shit.

I think that it wasn't shit, rather not so good as the others maybe. I would be glad to be author of his new album. As the sound of reason he did say on some article that he thinks that reason's sound ain't so good so he will not use it for next album he is writing right now. I'm reasoner myself and i know that reason sounds often too "glassy" As tool that is the most innovative i find that reason is that to me and to many others as well.

That it was my opinion was implicit. No need to point it out.

I read that he WROTE most of it in Reason, but used his MS20 for alot of the recording. Apparently he used this wacky distortion rack unit, but I forget the name.

Mixed on a Mackie, but with some high end compressors and stuff.

All according to article I read.

In an old (I'm 95 % sure it was a pre-Fat of the Land) CM or FM is an interview in which they discuss his gear & methods and in it he says Korg Prophecy is a piece of sh*t which he rarely or never uses.
“Somebody said to me, ‘But the Beatles were antimaterialistic.’ That’s a huge myth. John and I literally used to sit down and say, ‘Now, let’s write a swimming pool.’ ”

Some quotes from Howlett regarding Reason
"Reason is purely for sequencing. It has its uses but moving to Pro Tools allowed us to up a gear and get the tracks sounding pretty good."
"I'm not f**king promoting them (Proppellerheads) anymore!

They haven't done anything wrong, I'm just fed up with…you know, I still use it, but I also use Logic, Protools, I use Ableton, I use whatever is there really. Reason is good for getting shit happening quickly, but it doesn't sound like Logic or Protools, they sound better.

So either way, it ends up on Protools anyway."
He used Reason as a sketchpad only. He used it the way an architect would use a piece of paper to design a house - fleshing out ideas and looking for inspiration, but at some point those ideas are eventually moved into another program where the real work is done.

Post

Without the sketchpad though, his ideas wouldn't of come to fruition - I reckon anyway.

I also find reason good to put ideas down and i also use it almost for everything and getting better results with it as time goes on. After all all you need is good sounds and skills. I think also that props won't leave it there and next upgrade will put final nail to all that soundquality shit.
