Synthmaster has a nice feature set, despite that I don't like the sound of the oscillators and the filters are too transparent, I would be interested in a free liscence.

Personally I really like Synthmaster. However, I would like to throw in a wise suggestion. As Synthmaster is capable of additive synthesis, I would suggest refining that area a bit by adding a detune option for each partial in the oscillator window. This would allow for some interesting poly-unison, ethereal pads.
As for the way the partial selection works, I would suggest redesigning that to allow for the user to select dissonent intervals (whole tone, tritone, semitone, etc). Some of us like having the option of making things sound completely trashed when we need to (flimscorers, game designers, ambient artists, etc).

It's a very clean-sounding synth, but maybe too watery? Perhaps you're trying to do too much in a single package, but that's too late to reverse. The stepper and arpeggiator are very good. If I used this, I'd go into it knowing that it has to be streamed into Trash or some other sub-FSU device to roughen it up.
The presets are kind of ordinary -- and that matters to me, because presets are my go-to thing when composing. And the demos are all rather polite, too.

I voted "would definitely buy it if it were cheaper".
I do like the synth quite a bit, but especially in light of the fact that I already have so many synths, I really couldn't justify the cost right now.

----Kind of a draw between "Yes I used it and would consider purchasing in the future", and "Would definitely purchase if it were cheaper". Other than the cost, the one thing that turns me off from it, is that every other SM made plug-in I try has wicked problems. Some/most of those might be from the devs themselves, but, nothing locks my computer at 100% cpu use quite like adjusting an SM plug while it's in use, (not immediately, but after 5-10 minutes of having the SM plug open and in use), it literally takes upwards of 3-4 full minutes, to get my task bar up so I can kill it and lose whatever I had going on, just to avoid totally shutting my computer off and restarting it. So yeah, between mixed experiences with using SM plugs, and the somewhat high price (not that high really, but too high to really consider since SE is way cheaper if I wanted to get into plug design like that, and I have Reaktor 4 already). It definitely seems like it has potential though, and were I to win a free license I would most certainly make an effort to learn to use SM.

Hmmm. Synth Master and Synth Maker are two different thingsliars&ashes wrote:----Kind of a draw between "Yes I used it and would consider purchasing in the future", and "Would definitely purchase if it were cheaper". Okay, hadn't really heard of it but dl'ed it and have been playing with it. Just a guitarist so can't say too much on the sound other than it has some interesting sounds with a little tweaking. Going to give it a go tomorrow as an effect which should be more interesting for me....

Synth Master and Synth Maker are two different thingsMy bad, but come on, are we running out of plug-in names already ha-ha. After looking at it, it reminds me of that G8-R fx plug, that was made with SM actually, go figure. Probably the most interesting thing to me would be the SynthMaster fx plug, I always like multifx, is that available seperately ?

IMO the name is the most off putting thing about this synth
i didn't try it for a long time just due to the name & linking it with SE/SM

Haven't tried it but keep meaning to - the large download for the demo puts me off a bit!

I came up with that name back in 1995, and didn't want to change it since then. Sorry if it creates a confusion with SynthMaker.djsubject wrote: IMO the name is the most off putting thing about this synth

BTW, it is not build with SynthMaker or SynthBuilder, it has its own proprietry audio engine.

I was a bit dubious of the name, but the presets and arp made me want to play with it a lot more.

Just tried the the free version and I liked this synth, a little raw sounding but that can be a good thing sometimes
At first I got it confused with SynthMaker as well but thats all cleared up now
I like how all the parameters are grouped on different pages, keeps things from being too overwhelming. Some of the presets are nice but some sound a bit dated - but then again old skool sounds are needed sometimes. So quite nice for what it does: Not an ultra-modern sounding synth but I could imagine the sounds fitting pretty well into a mix. This is one to layer

I like this synth, I downloaded the free version as soon as it came out. It's a very good synth, the gui is nice but I didn't buy it. I don't think it's overpriced, but I try to put my money in things I really really need. The last two thing I bought were Sensomusic's Usine (50€) and various sticks for my drumset (50€). If I have it for free, I'll certainly be happy, but I can also give my opinion for free.
There are so many freebies around there that you can make good music for almost nothing.
For me, Krishna, Zebra2, Surge, Sylenth and other very good synths are too high in price. Maybe these companies could have the same income selling them half the price : more people would buy. But I'm not in marketing, so I can't be sure.
