Bingo

the OSC's are very different the SM2 Saw has far more top end on it (more digital) the OSC on the moog sounds like its filtered before it hits the filter (if that makes any sense)

the filter its self & the harmonics are very good but its that phatt lo end that's missing in the SM2 audio

PS, it would be nice to have the stepping configurable? (for smoother sweeps) lets not limit this to a moog only filter :)

its rear to find a vsti with that fatt punch in there filters (synth squad is king in this department IMO) 2'nd in line is U-he ACE (& some of the new filters in Zebra2.5 witch are not CPU hogs)

So now that I'm in the process of improving the filters, let me make an "overall" improvement and change the basic waveforms as well :D

Actually it might be a better idea to add a "global" setting to set the "basic" waveforms. So that, for instance we can assign a Moog Sawtooth waveform for the Sawtooth waveform.

Also, there's one feature SynthMaster supports but is almost hidden: Layering multiple waveforms between note ranges is possible. So we can take one sample per octave for instance from a Moog and then use multisamples to construct a single "waveform"/"instrument"/"wavetable" (whatever you call it!)

Does the above sound like a good idea?

Yes it's sounds good! But i guess everyone want more "punchy" sound. Have you think what i have said? Boosting low end, low mid, and mid's or something like that?

The Moog filter must be one of the most copied ever. It would be nice to have a bit more variety.
The Moog model is kind of "standard" actually and that's what I believe I implemented.
That's kind of my point. It's been "standard" for so long that everytime someone claims to have copied the Moog design I yawn and think"not again".
Isn't the Moog design different from "standard" ladder filters in that Dr Moog let the circuit distort ?

Of course the transistors caused distortion because of their tanh response. The tanh distortion is in my model as well, for all of the 4 stages of the filter.
That distortion along with the negative feedback of the circuit causes the self oscillation sound when the feedback value is greater than 4

Punch has nothing to do with boosting the low end, but a lot with the speed of an envelope.

Anyway, the most obvious difference to me lies in the midrange, the emulation has this softsynth agressiveness, whereas the hardware synth is relatively smooth.

BTW, if you want a real challenge try to emulate the fast filter envelopes of the Voyager. ;-)

The min duration for an envelope is actually the engine buffer size setting, which ranges between 16 samples (small) - 32 samples (medium) - 64 samples (large)

I'm actually planning to add global settings for engine buffer size plus the engine quality so that when rendering a project those can be globally changed and better results can be obtained

Right now those two settings are per preset, which is ALMOST USELESS, I admit, as you cant change them globally while rendering your session.

Or give the sm2 filter more modes, as only additional moog voyager(but better as all the minimoog models^^)

for example:

nordlead
juno
voyager
andromeda
virus
imposcar
jupiter

with such a "small" modes off filtermodels the most people would buy the sm2 alone for the filters :D (if the models are really good - minimum 90-95% authentic from the sound)

Any news? :P

Sorry for the slow progress folks. Nowadays I've been kind of lazy :D
Maybe I should just update the GUI for the current changes and make a release next week.

Still trying to decide for more "drive" options for the filters.

Lazy? Not good :D

DOn't forgot, there is many on the plan:
-more Filter-Drives
-more Filter-Models
-new Reverb

etc :D

and is the mac-version also finished?

Enjoy the relax you've earned :D
And anything you do, must not fack up usability and ergonomics ;)

No i mean a Mac Apple, the new Menu in the MacDonald stores

I think the right answer is to have both and pan one left and one right. That sounded great.
