It is important to understand that we are no longer talking about synthesizers or workstations - we are talking about software which needs a host computer and a host OS. Both develop must faster than anyone would have ever expected - and compatibility is often sacrificed more quickly than we think. Sylenth is (sadly) not a machine, which you can switch on and connect it's midi / audio-out to your box.

You are being too critical Tom. Lennard is doing crucial upgrades as making it 64-bit and so on. I would not consider this as a problem from my point of view. Only thing to worry about is irationality of not commenting development. I've sent him an e-mail with all the worries about future of Sylenth and everything in really personal way. Not even a line back. :-( He closed this chapter of his life, or he's extremely bussy with something else out of music bussines.

But he's still fair enough to upgrade Sylenth. I believe...

There are no news ;) I would not wait for updates, new versions etc. Eventually then you can wait the next years and forget to make music :P

If the features are not enough, there is a good successor of Sylenth: Synapse Dune. I know that some guys switching from Sylenth to Dune because the development of Sylenth is dead since 2008/2009.

Why do you need a "successor" for Sylenth? Sylenth works perfectly, so what exactly is your issue with this synth? Some of my favourite VSTi synths are from Korg (the legacy series) at the moment. They haven't been updated for quite a while but I love their sound.

'works perfectly' is a matter of opinion.. there's definitely some bugs that need fixing or at least attended to and the guy can't even be bothered to reply to a support email or comment on the 'official support forum' for his product..

i love this product but i get somewhat worried about not being able to use my go-to synth in a few years time (if that)

Some guys saying that Dune sounds closer to a Virus then Sylenth. I would say this is not wrong because of the Unison/modulation features.

Anyway, people should not wait for a Sylenth2 ;) IMO there will not be such a version. I expect in the future a release of the always long published Beta with some fixes. But this will not change the GUI or the design etc. Only some bug fixes, eventually small improvements and some additional presets.

i think its really weird that he is not here to tell us something about the future of Sylenth1 - i bought it in January this year and i know this beta phase is really going really long.
before i can say he updated sylenth1 really regular and often.
where is he now?!
i really want new waveforms, PWM, better reverb and a bigger filter choice.
i think its atm like with Ableton they telling nothing about when version 9 is coming. i asked in the forum over facebook ... bla, bla nothing.

would be really good if lennard would take the time to give us a shout that we can feel save.
(btw i tried dune also found the sound to metallic - the filter behaviour was fine - but i'll surely stay with sylenth1 - since is the first synths which really took me away and i was able to programm my own sounds fast and really with quality!)

vanguard is metallic - this is a no go sound for me.

Like said, Lennard is still bringing out bug fixes, you must have noticed, though Sylenth1 has very matured and doesn't need a lot of upgrades as it is. Also, I think the beta status is more something you should see like a 'copy protection'; Lennard doesn't want to move to a dongle and as soon as he marks a version as an official one, it's downloadable as a crack.

About the future, I'd be surprised if something came out this year, though Lennard has stated in the past that he's always planned to create new music sofware after Sylenth1 ...

Whatever the case is he just needs to say SOMETHING. Even if it's something like "Sylenth will never be updated again" he can at least show us enough respect to admit that. I'm really regretting purchasing this synth now. Not that the synth is bad, but I don't want to support somebody that doesn't answer simple questions about their software. He can be as vague as he wants just give us an answer!

There was rumour in xmas that Lennard is working on 2.5 update. Don't know if this a true, but this may be reason why current release is still beta.
