Ace & Diva inside reason?

This is very hopeful. My god how awesome that would be!

I can tell you right now that I'd re-buy ACE if I had to if it came as a RE. Diva and Zebra would be a no brainer as well (and the Uhbiks). The whole Rack Extensions thing and having you on board is like a dream really.

I'm still kind of not allowed to talk technical details, so bear with me if I'm being vague.

While doing Uhbiks is a no brainer and astonishingly easy to do, we couldn't quite comprehend how to do the dynamic user interface of Zebra, Diva and ACE in these early stages of the platform.

OTOH I talked to many Props today and everyone stressed how much they'd like us to also port the synths. So I do believe that it's just a matter of time till we can at least do ACE or even Diva, and maybe one day also Zebra. We will need to establish a workflow, and we'll need to get Propellerhead to help us with some stuff.

After all this is a mind boggling concept from a developer's point of view, and once the SDK goes public... all I can say is, we've been drooling over this for quite a while ;)

Diva Diva Diva! Whatever you do, remember to include _shïtloads_ of CV/Gate inputs and outputs. If RE takes off Reason is going to be the number one modular synth playground out there just because you aren't shackled to synth's builtin effects and stuff anymore. Modulating any DIVA parameter with a Matrix pattern generator... mmmmmmmh....

I'm not shackled to built in effects now! Lives racks and macros are easy to create and save with multiple 3rd party effect chains... With Max for Live I can modulate any Diva parameter should I wish.

I think it's a fantastic development for both developers!

However, the problem with investing time and energy in creating ReasonRE dsp which would be exclusive to Prop-heads is that not nearly all of U-he's existing VST/AU whathaveyou customerbase is even using the Reason software and as a result would not be able to enjoy the benefits of developments in this particular area.

The time and energy used to port U-he's existing synth arsenal over to RE platform *seems* at first glance to me a sort of distraction or sidelining to much requested or desired upgrades etc to the widely popular VST/AU versions of these plugins.

The new project makes me nervous about the pace of general development. It seems everyone is pulling Urs in 10 million different directions simultaneously, even we existing users

I do not think that Urs and Clemens will place all eggs in one Reason basket, that is not what I'm saying, but such a move to port things for exclusive use in ReasonRE would surely take a big slice of time,... as Urs himself suggested in an earlier post. Just things to think about.

Don't worry. We wouldn't do it if it was too much hassle. There is not much extra coding involved. Just an adjustment or two to the workflow.

I don't care about 64 bit and Live is not buggy for me... And of course there are plenty of other hosts which can do the same things if someone does not like Live... My point is we are not currently shackled at all...

I can't see it happening they use Audio rate modulation which CV doesn't handle - you might see a different tale on similar technology but it won't be exactly the same thing.

I guess that this would be a boring solution but speaking of the GUI and Diva.

In theory, could you do a solution similar to Thor and Kong where you have set slots for oscillators, filters and envelopes and perhaps some sort of Mod Bus Routing System?

I was thinking about ACE as well, if the only limitation is the cables, could you perhaps sacrifice them in favor of a MBRS as well?

I think that because of the modular nature of reason it would be sort of cool to see simplified versions of different features in u-he synthesizers. for example, you could create a zebralette-type rack that would allow the four different osc modes as well as osc effects, mseg, envelopes and lfos etc. or perhaps a simple fmo rack. then create a xmf rack or a runciter for filter purposes. my main issue with the synthesizers inside easing now is that they just don't sound the same as zebra or diva and I would like to be able to recreate zebra patches within reason, but am limited by the sound of the current reason synths

Yes and no. Reason today doesn't support/allow for proper polyphony between devices. So all those things would be pretty boring if I could only make 1 note sounding good. Your idea isn't bad, it's just that such a change for polyphonic support would be a fundamental change to the entire core of Reason and as long as that doesn't happen I would still prefer to have the whole of ACE, DIVA, and Zebra in Reason. :)

I see. I didn't realize that about reason. Either way you cut it, Urs' synths sound awesome and I would love to see them in Reason someday.
