But I think sometimes tabs are mandatory if you want to pack additional functionalities without getting a big size, or at least a quick switch between states. Even synths like Little Phatty have got paged states and I think they are successful.
i miss the days when vstis were fun to program and all one page

Several of our plugins can be programmed in a single page. Also, fun

i had this issue designing an analog monosynth. there it isn't just a matter of difficulty of use, each knob will cost about ten bucks!
i managed 36 controls - but the synthesizer has only one oscillator, one envelope, one lfo, one filter.
additional 'hidden' controls are still in a page. only in the hardware world this means they're running on the control chip which handles midi, and so are only accessible through midi. (or, a lcd + keys if it had those.)
so i've got a vst plugin which provides an interface to these hidden functions such as on-chip glide, lfo, envelope, arp, modulation routing for velocity, bender, after-touch, mod-wheel and a few other options. there is tuning control for example, and i have the ability to store and load mod-matrix presets. (the chip generates cv for pitch, cutoff, and gate).
the bare synth itself is cool, but once you start to want to automate anything like lfo speed sync'd to tempo or that sort of thing, it simply isn't possible with the analog circuits. you could use cv control for the lfo speed but that just gets insane.
so unless you want a useless synthesizer that makes a total of two sounds you're just going to have to deal with it!

Sylenth is 2 pages... layer 1 and layer 2... but you could just use 2 osc and 1 filter and ignore the second pageMetanol wrote:You might try Sylenth1. Hmm. Effects are not in one page but everything else is.

That's what I love about Predator. I like you can click a button and that parameter appears on the page. Easy to use, clean, and more importantly fun.

That was just me trying to be funny. Overly complicated if you compare to synths with only one page.Teksonik wrote:Overly complicated?Metanol wrote:Now when you remind me, it really is overly complicated...
