Also by the way, is Uhe Ace is as good as Diva? On their web site they say it was made in the mind with letest computer hardware, is Ace is as good as Diva, but just different?

Thank ü

ACE is different, with more possibilities given it's modular and it has one more filter to mess with as well as other options on other components.

Both sound good, ACE is better for RAW sounds: leads, basses and some fx. DIva is king on analogue pads, brass and keys.

Both deliver a lot, but well how many Virtual analogs you wanbt in your collection? Personally I would look in to other kind of synthetizers: additive or FM.

IIRC (and I'm not a synth aficionado by any means), it's the Minimoog, the MS-10/20, Juno 60 and Jupiter 8. Please someone correct me if that's wrong.

The real fun in Diva lies in combining the different parts, say, the oscillator section of the Moog with the MS-20 filters.

Synth Squad might be a semi-modular monster, but Diva is far from being simplistic. There are quite a few options to get things wobbling.

I would go so far as to say: if you've got Synth Squad, you don't need ACE. Although ACE is a lot of fun to program, and the price you pay for it goes towards an upgrade to the fabled Berlin Modular (whenever it'll see the light of day).

Have you heard of U-He Bazille, by the way? It's in public beta, and is modular heaven:

I definitely find it worth having both. Strobe has all those interesting Matrix 12-like filter modes (rather like Zebra's XMF) and makes some great poly sounds with the stack/detune engaged, and of course Cypher has all that wonderful/weird stuff you can do in the oscillator section. Synth Squad has a different character than DIVA, though - the Squad almost reminds me of more fizzy-sounding CEM-based synths like an OB-Xa or Polaris. DIVA, on the other hand, does a better job at the sort of Moog-like basses I often use than anything I could get out of Synth Squad - it's the first softsynth that made me feel like I can do just fine without having a real Moog around. DIVA's brassy poly sounds are different from Synth Squad as well. Actually, I like layering Strobe and DIVA for huge-sounding brass stabs.

There's def some great analog emus around these days, I've heard the Dcam stuff and the lush 101, which are both excellent and I may buy in the future. I bought Diva as soon as it came out... that should tell you something.

It really is a bit special.

Almost right! :hihi:

You missed the Jupiter 6 and the Alpha Juno.
I don't think and MS-10 was involved though.

'kay, thanks. But I thought the revision 1 of the BITE filter was modelled on the MS-10...? Or was it the MS-20 rev 1?

The most fundamental difference is the oscillators. The ones in ACE are "analog style" -- square/sine/triangle/saw/PWM. The ones in Bazille are for FM and phase distortion.

OP there's a sale on the Synth squad soundbanks and Myagi has done a bunch of tutorials which you may wanna check out before ponying up for Diva!:

:tu: I'm not saying don't buy Diva but Synth Squad is a deep system. Different colours of the spectrum and all that. I plan to get Diva one day when i upgrade my cpu but the Squad have taken up residency until then. :hihi:

Well, i do not think Synth Squade and Diva that appart in CPU usage, and in fact if u use Fuser in crazy patches, u can get even 4 time CPU usage then Diva, i guess... :)

Read this Diva review from Keyboard magazine:

I tried Synth Squad: it has some cool dynamic stuff happening, but the overall sound quality is much better in Diva, in my opinion. Then again, overall I like Zebra better than Diva.
