Not necessarily. I've seen programs in version 20 which were buggier than other betas.

What's the fuss about the version number or beta/final status anyway? If it works, it works. And if this is around for 10 years, i guess it does work.

i use xhip since recently, it's probably an old version, but one thing that kinda annoys me is that i sometimes fail to turn a knob back to zero
but that's just something small

it's a very good synth, not just the sound but also the structure and how each component fits and interacts with the others

Yeah, but I'm convinced that people can get quite attached to a software vsti just like an old hardware synth-I'll betcha that there's people around here that still use NI's Pro-53, as an example.

I spent a little time listening to the demos-it sounds good! And it probably stands to reason that if it's internals have been tweaked with on and off over the years, that it's probably it's own thing, in the sense that it may have a few traits that others may not.

Worth investigating further...

It doesn't get more mention cause it is Win only... all the cool kids use Mac

If I could somehow make my mac stop crashing and end the endless spinning lolly that haunts my nightmares I might make some progress on that

Weirdest system ever. I bet if I were to boot it into the shell I could look at some logs and figure out what on earth is going on, but to be honest it makes me wish for a BSOD.

Needs a new hard disk, can't possibly replace it myself without special tools. Can't run disk repair to mark bad sectors since once the drive reports a SMART error OSX won't touch it anymore. Can't reinstall, etc.

Then on top of that the nightmares of attempting to write code on there... AHH.

Xhip sounds great, and from what I remember was decent on Cpu usage, I stopped following the updates when it took an installer.

What does his (in)ability to release a free synth have to do with his coding intellect? And where did he claim to be a dsp genius? Guess I missed that.

No love for Xhip
