Christian from DDMF is the primary architect for the new plug - it is all new code
Thank you for the insight.

I see we can already buy it, but there is not demo yet to download : when will the demo be available ? And how long will the intro proce will last ?

OK that does make it clearer - I think people were thinking it was a port of the original plugin when in fact it's really a new plugin with some features in common and a similar layout.

Yes, this note below is what made me believe that the Intellectual Property of Mackie had been licensed by Tracktion Software, and that we would be getting a 64-bit version of Final Mix which for contractual reasons had to be renamed Master Mix when offered by Tracktion Software Corporation :

LOL - nothing wrong with some optimism ;)

Master Mix - the new name for Final Mix (cos Mackie wants to hold onto that name) is very close - plug is essentially done, its the delivery mechanism that we are completing - big surprise and its very cool

There's nothing in that post about licensing IP from Mackie.

In that case why are you not expecting a lawsuit regarding the slavishly copied layout?

I'm going to take a punt that the ex-Mackie employees contacted some of their previous work colleagues at Mackie, and asked what they're comfortable with them doing, before they made the new version of Master Mix. I could be miles off base, but let's face it, it's kind of obvious.

Yes, we did speak with our friends at Mackie - of course - although they have no interest in updating the original plugin, they have re-used the IP in other digital products so selling it was not an option

We listened to the user base who were crying out for an update to FM - and took it on ourselves to write it from scratch

THB, its just the first in a long line of DSP solutions we have planned - just trying look after the existing user base first and foremost :)

Final Mix Trivia

Acuma Labs Final Mix was once a high-priced vst ($399.00). Probably too far ahead of its time, at the time it was released.

II genuinely hope that Christian/TSCorp can get MM and its presets dialed in.

Post

That's really cool that Christian from DDMF did Master Mix , I've been happy with his EQ plugins Bundle that I had purchased prior to Marketplace ... Presets aren't a big part of his plugins ....But maybe we could work on some presets of our own and share them ..

Post

FYI:

To recreate the Acuma Punch preset, I had to copy down 123 (one hundred twenty-three) numerical values, and then plug them in to MM, one field at a time. If you try this exercise do not forget that on each of the three crossovers at the bottom left of the GUI, each node (Threshhold, Node 1, Node 2, Node 3, Node 4 and End, each have underlying values that need to be copied down. It is easy to forget and skip over. I am going to A/B the result this weekend.

Post

Arggh.

As I went thru all the values to make certain there were no entry errors. I spotted several values in MM were not even close. I retyped them in and as soon as I clicked away from the field, MM changed the value! There are several places where MM will not accept the FM value and it then unilaterally changes the value. This becomes very apparent in the crossover section where FM values are rejected and the resulting compression ratios are not even close. If MM will not accept verbatim values from the FM fields then I cannnot see how a FM preset can be duplicated in MM.

Of lesser concern, any value expressed in FM in kilohertz, e.g., 1.14 will need to be converted to Hertz 1,140, in order to be typed into MM; MM fields will not accept vales expressed in kilohertz.

The presets will have to be done by professionals

I'm a Tracktioneer since V1 and have paid full whack for all subsequent versions up to 4.
This sounds like a bit of a let down really.
I still have access to T3, seriously thinking about loading it up again.
At least to run a "Final Mix" through it.
Won't be buying MM that's for sure.
The whole point of doing this was to emulate those presets.
No?
FM was a real revelation to me when it was fIrst added to the arsenal.
It brought instant oomph to stuff, when looking to get things down quickly as a MUSICIAN.
Happily i've spent a bit of time getting used to alternatives.

To the OP.
Thanks for your heads up re this rather disappointing news.

Is it possible to ReWire T5 to a T3 with just FM in it?

Maybe my question above got unnoticed ?

The T3 version of FM works perfectly for me in in T5 32-bit (Win 7 64-bit OS). Unfortunately it will not bridge in jBridge.
